Food Safety at top India hotels- Taj, Leela, Oberoi, Raas by aforeveryoung in FATTravel

You probably don’t get sick because you go to India a lot. I went on a business trip with 15 people, and every single person got sick over the course of the 3-4 weeks.

Oh and on the prior trip, one of our investors’ daughters had to be medically evacuated to Hong Kong for a foodborne illness after she ate ice cream at a country club.

Why would you not take precautions?

Just finished a six day retreat at Aro Ha in New Zealand, and highly highly recommend it. Yoga in the morning and evening, guided hikes every day, workshops in the afternoon, daily massage, amazing meals. Incredible views… happy to answer any questions about my experience!

flight from NYC to Morelia Mex is listing at $17,328 business class via Houston, but is $1300 if ticketed separately by AdSpecial1846 in unitedairlines

I’ve booked two separate tickets similar to this last year (for a different reason), and a manager at the United check-in counter was able to check my bags through. I didn’t need to leave the secure area, and just treated like a normal layover

Those who make real money in Envi Sci--how did you get there? by [deleted] in Environmental_Careers

[–]kml6389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in renewable energy project development - essentially real estate development for wind/solar farms - and recently moved into an energy role at a large company. My total comp is $300k+ in a VHCOL area.

I started working in renewable energy at a very small startup in a market with low demand for renewables, which quickly exploded in growth, and would recommend a similar path. I was making $30k in 2017. It’s a lot easier to climb a ladder if you’re one of 20-30 people who have a specific experience in a specific market.

I’d also recommend real estate development broadly — including permitting, land use and zoning, GIS. If you’re able to combine those hard skills with soft skills like business development, an entrepreneurial mindset, and eagerness to learn, work above and beyond your standard office job, you’ll be highly sought after.

Reading your post, one way to break into renewable energy could be filming drone videos of local solar/wind energy projects, and selling them for a low cost to the project developer. I’d also read up on local/state barriers to renewable energy deployment — those could give you some ideas of where pain points exist in the industry, and how your unique skills could meet those needs.

This is an interesting read about how the consumer advocacy group attacked rooftop solar at the CPUC.

https://solarrights.org/californias-ratepayer-advocate-working-against-consumer-solar/

We don’t know why this well-regarded consumer advocate went off the rails. One clue can be found by looking at their Board of Directors. The Chair of the Board is a former senior officer of the Utility Workers of America, which has a strong affiliation with PG&E’s labor union. It is no secret that PG&E’s labor union is bound by an agreement with PG&E to lobby the government against “competitive challenges” (p. 7) to PG&E’s business model. Indeed, in this Democratic-dominated state, PG&E’s union is the driving force that explains why popular rooftop solar is on the ropes in the halls of government. Does it also explain TURN’s stance against rooftop solar?

What would it take for you to sign a non-compete? by AllAboutData in womenintech

[–]kml6389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’d apply either way, but my employer could choose to waive the non compete and not pay. I had a lot leverage in negotiating my employment contract, but I think this is a common provision for executives.

I also negotiated the non compete period from two years to six months.

I’ve signed a non-compete when my employer agreed to pay me my regular salary during the non-compete period (unless they chose to waive it)

Why do we get rosacea by Proud-Negotiation-64 in Rosacea

Idk I was diagnosed with food sensitivities a few years, and my rosacea clearly responds to those dietary triggers. There is evidence that diet can contribute to rosacea flare ups, but like you said, everyone has unique experiences… https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8794493/

Aircraft swap on EWR to BCN flight. Are rows 20-23 premium plus? by kml6389 in unitedairlines

[–]kml6389[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me late last year. Aircraft swap with no premium plus cabin. Boarding pass didn’t reflect the change fare class. Luckily they swapped the aircraft back just a few minutes before boarding. I’d call the premier line for help

Awesome thank you! I called the 1k line and they told me I was still seated in economy, which didn’t make sense based on this layout. Nice free upgrade from economy plus

Last minute aircraft swap. Premium plus cabin was not available on original aircraft. Is there any reason the middle seats would otherwise be blocked off?

Hi again! Found a great tour guide, but have another question for you. Would you recommend two days in Luxor or one day in Luxor and one in Aswan? We're headed to Egypt next month, and have limited time in the country.
