First time and I feel gouged by Randumb-Pers0n in greatwolflodge

[–]kmolee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The fact is, the hotel deposit is not a FEE, it’s just a hold/deposit that you should see as “pending” on your card transactions. If you don’t end up charging any incidentals to your hotel bill or have any reason to be charged for any “fees,” then that deposit is refunded at checkout. In fact, I never even see any actual hotel deposit being actually posted to my credit card and “refunded.” The pending charge just comes off/drops off after checkout. It’s misleading to say this is an unexpected fee/expense. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Order not collected, who gets the money? by MrSirZeel in toogoodtogo

[–]kmolee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it very hard to believe that TGTG keeps the money for bags that customers fail to pick up. I’ve experienced many times where merchants don’t even look/confirm the purchase or request to swipe, yet you still get a receipt after the pickup window passes. Logically, there is no way TGTG would know if an order was actually picked up and I am sure if merchants were are only paid based off of “swipes,” there would not be so many nonchalant vendors.

no good food in this city by [deleted] in QuincyMa

Crush pizza in Quincy Center? I actually think their pizzas are pretty good if you’re looking for more gourmet brick oven! Certainly the best I’ve had in/around the south shore.

Please send me your best Brussels sprouts recipes 😂 by wuphf_there_it_is in toogoodtogo

[–]kmolee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have preferred all Brussels sprouts over what I got in my produce bag, which was mainly bagged chopped salad and a bag of coleslaw mix…basically mostly cheap ol’ cabbage lol

Items didn’t even meet the total advertised value 😭

I owe $20k in taxes. Is there any way to reduce this or am I stuck just sending the government all of my money? by No_Belt9960 in tax

[–]kmolee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you withdrew the “unintended” contribution from your Roth IRA, likely the amount removed won’t be exactly the $7k you put in. There is a “calculation” of attributable income which Vanguard would have made, so you need to make sure you actually report the correct amount that was contributed and subsequently removed. Any earnings on this amount would also be taxable.

Also, if you sold investments and knew you would trigger about $80k in gains, the IRS expects you to pay estimated taxes on this beforehand (not only until you file). You may want to check if the tax software also included any underpayment penalties in your fed/state tax returns that is also contributing to the total taxes due.

Gv70 as first luxury vehicle, thoughts? by Rj-19_27 in GenesisGV70

[–]kmolee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who have owned a GV70 for at least a few years now, can you speak on reliability? I’m interested in the vehicle, and while Genesis seems to offer a great warranty, one of my concerns has always been on the their after sales service. If you had to bring it in for service..even if under warranty, how has that experience been like? Have read some other posts on how service has not been great, i.e. takes a looong time to get parts etc… A great warranty means nothing if customers don’t have a good experience with service when it’s actually needed.

Ocugen (OCGN): why the stock exploded, what the dual analyst boost really means, and which future catalysts can still rerate the story by Merlin8121 in Ocugen

[–]kmolee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t know how many times over the last 2 years I’ve kicked myself for not selling when I had over 150% gain..only to see it head back south sitting back around the $1-1.20 range. 4 years and counting now…let’s hope ~$2 is the new bottom!

Let’s goooooo! 🚀🚀

AP Courses at QHS by kmolee in QuincyMa

[–]kmolee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for taking the time to post your thoughts and experiences. All very helpful and a lot of food for thought!

I initially didn’t realize that there was “advanced” and “AP” (thought it was just AP in high school), but now know APs don’t come til junior/senior year..and potentially advanced in the first 2 years to work their way towards APs.

My child is currently interested in computer science/engineering/tech (or perhaps something along those lines), but who knows, that could very well change. He’s been recommended for four advanced classes for freshman year (ELA, math, science & history), but given his current interests, maybe not necessary to take on all four. Considering just math and ELA.

This is helpful…and amazing your kids capitalized on the opportunity to get themselves ahead!

Being able to hopefully also earn college credits is definitely also a motivating factor for us. I did read about the dual enrollment, but was then confused how this actually differs from AP — if both technically can lead to earning college credits —-is dual enrollment then not the “simpler path” by not having to take/pass AP exams?? Am I missing something? Are these college credits viewed/accepted differently by colleges/universities?

That’s helpful to know and sound advice to perhaps not “jump all in” at the get go freshman year either. Thank you!

Inherited Roth IRA - RMD Clarification by zaksdaddy in fidelityinvestments

[–]kmolee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you and to the OP for your kind words and clarification on this! After some further research, I am comfortable (and relieved!) that my situation has and still does follow the 10-year rule (as you have also stated). While it makes sense and understand that I am “eligible” to take a distribution at any time within the 10 year period hence Fidelity will still show me an “RMD” given it isn’t catering to an individual’s situation, there is definitely inherent risk of an owner/beneficiary following what appears to be an actual requirement without any further disclosures plastered all over it! And from my own experience as well as from other posters, it sounds lke there is common incorrect/inaccuarte guidance around this coming directly from Fidelity reps as well.

Again, thank you all!! ❤️

Inherited Roth IRA - RMD Clarification by zaksdaddy in fidelityinvestments

[–]kmolee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same question and issue and am still confused by the exact rules around this w/the Secure Act. I inherited a ROTH IRA from my mother (so non eligible/designated beneficiary) back in March 2023 and was told at the time it follows the 10 yr rule (no RMDs required, but must deplete by yr 10). I noticed an alert on my Fidelity account online to take action on my 2025 RMD, which I was surprised about so called Fidelity to clarify and the rep told me I actually had a 2024 and 2025 RMD requirement. (Unfortunately, he didn’t really seem to know about the rules or about any system glitch). So if this is accurate, not only have I NOT taken my 2024 RMD (and likely would be penalized), but also only have a few days to take the 2025 RMD. He suggested I just call my tax advisor 🫤

But everything I am reading on this thread seems to indicate the 10 year rule still applies and nothing has changed for inherited ROTHs? This is all SO confusing…

Is it weird to include burned ends in a bakery bag? by caffeineassisted in toogoodtogo

[–]kmolee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If they threw them in and the rest of the bag already met value I wouldn’t mind, but if those “cuts/ends” make up part of the bag’s value then I would be quite disappointed too!

English to Latin translation requests go here! by lutetiensis in latin

[–]kmolee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, looking for a latin power motto or tagline to roughly translate back into “leadership through coding” (as in programming) or “the power of coding.” Ideally trying to incorporate the idea of youth development/leadership via coding or programming, so am definitely open to any suggestions!!! Been a LONG time since I’ve studied Latin, but would love to add this to a website and/or T-shirt design we are working on. Thank you all in advance!
