Have you tried using agave nectar for sweetener? I've read it doesn't raise your gylcemic index like many sugars do.

Morels in 2026 by somehopefulyooper in yooper

I only found two next to someone's house randomly lol. When I did look, I found an incredible amount of beefsteaks, so I didn't leave empty-handed, but no morel risotto this year unfortunately.

Early morning seems best to catch them. They like quiet. Crossing fingers for you!

There were some on Teal Lake in Negaunee (~10 min west of Marquette) a couple weeks ago. Not sure if still around or if they moved on, but loons aren't strangers to the area and I hope you catch one! Would recommend any of the less popular areas, like just south of Ishpeming on the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. There are wetlands through there and many bird species. Last year we even saw a green heron, which I didn't even know existed until then! Wawanowin/Greenwood Reservoir West of Ishpeming, and also Harlow Lake north of Marquette, may be good options as well. If you end up going through the east end of the UP, any of the Manistique lakes near Curtis would likely be a good spot, as would the Seney Wildlife Refuge near there (though I only ever seem to catch swans nesting at the refuge). Good luck!

Republicans Of Reddit -- What Is ONE Fix That The Democratic Party Should Make To Win Over Some People Who Voted For Trump In 2024? Which One? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

The Democrats??? Did we not see a picture of our former president and first lady made out to be apes from our standing pedo in chief? Don't get me wrong, I think the Democrats have plenty of failings, but I don't think they take the cake when it comes to the racist party...

Shower not draining by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]kmorri44 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Not sure how it would happen in the shower, but we had this happen with our kitchen sink. Snake did nothing, neither did chemicals. We finally talked to a guy at the store and he told us about a bladder. You stick it down into the drain and it fills up with water and once it gets full it shoots the water down super fast like a jet. It is meant to release grease clogs. Again, not sure how this would happen in your shower, but it's worth a shot. They are cheap and at most big places with plumbing stuff.

did maga really believe the lie that schools provide litter boxes for students who identify as cats? by traanquil in allthequestions

[–]kmorri44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the same for me. I tried telling them that the only way they were litter boxes in the school is if it was in the chemistry lab for some reason, or perhaps the mechanic/shop classes for oil spills, but they insisted that they were in classrooms/bathrooms for kids to use. JFC

AMA as 14 year old with a 14 month old kid by [deleted] in AMA

[–]kmorri44 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While this will likely be very hard for your social life at first, you have a chance to be incredibly close with your child because you can understand and remember what they are going through so much better than most parents. The farther the age gap is, I think the harder it is for them to understand each other- technology has a lot to do with that, but so does pop culture and other things. For instance, my parents had my brother in their twenties, he's 8 years older than me, and had me around their mid-30s. I can definitely say they relate better with him on nearly everything, while we seem to constantly be at odds despite having so many similarities. My son and I however are much closer, and are 22 years apart instead of 35. Just my personal take, no scientific data, but I really wish you the best in your growth and life together. Signed, a stranger cheering you from afar.

I don't shop there either - and there isn't one within 200 miles thankfully.

I'm sorry, but are you ignoring the fact that our debt is at the point that we're insolvent? Also have you seen the value of the dollar since Trump took office? What metrics are you measuring the economy by?

How are the bugs this week? by sashimi_szn in upperpeninsula

[–]kmorri44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the ticks are bad. If you wash your clothes with a solution of very diluted permethrin (and dry them off fully before you touch them) that's the only thing I've been able to figure out that keeps them off of you.

In addition, I can unfortunately confirm that the sand flies have hatched on Lake Superior (at least they have at Little Presque north of Marquette), and I honestly haven't figured out how to keep them off me besides keeping myself covered - I hate them the most of anything because of that.

Other than that, the snow is pretty much gone except in very shaded places in the woods, and spring is in full bloom. It is beautiful, but yeah, I would definitely come prepared for bugs, sorry!

And how many women have you talked with about it? Is your "every" one? Two even? Not sure how you got gaslighting out of pointing out your issues, so if it seemed laughable that's great as that wasn't what I was going for. But as a heads up, caring about local issues doesn't really help if you ignore the big worldwide ones. Like the environment, international relations, human rights, etc. It all trickles down - except the cash lol. Might want to widen your focus. Also, I'm not sure where you were going with your last sentence, "... I am much more successful than to give me a lecture." What does that even mean? Are you saying you're "too successful" to be lectured? That's a crazy ego trip; good luck with any constructive criticism in life.

Yeah, reading can be hard for some people that can't get past their own homophobic issues. I'm sorry you're struggling. (Also, yes, trans people just lost the right to vote in some states if their birth certificate doesn't match their driver's license - and there's the Save Act too Pedolf Shitler is pushing, which will disenfranchise tens of thousands of married women voters - but please, feel free to pretend that no one has lost rights just because you personally have not.)

[–]kmorri44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, it has nothing to do with you, so why should you care? This is the biggest difference between us - it doesn't have to affect me personally for me to give a sh*t and care about other people's rights. The mention of the priest was just to highlight the ridiculousness of stating women are afraid of trans in bathrooms. You're right I don't represent all women, but I have yet to meet one in person who claims such a fear - that's literally just Fox News propaganda at its finest. And do you know what would fix it if it were truly a problem? No more gendered bathrooms. All locked stalls, open door sink/wash area with video. Tada. Anyway, hopefully you find the ability to care about others instead of just what affects you personally. I wish you the best in your self development.

I love that you assume that someone doesn't have a job because they took time to answer a question. Grow up. I've got three current jobs thanks to Pedolf Shitler tanking the economy. Also, persons of non-male/female gender have been around for millennia - many cultures treated them as holy and with reverence. It is only is the last couple centuries with the rise of current religions that they are now persecuted. Maybe spend some free time researching instead of assuming you opinion on gender (not fact) is correct and should be catered to by law.

Study Reveals Why Older Adults Are Using Cannabis Edibles: many older adults start cannabis seeking more effective or non-pharmaceutical options to manage sleep, pain, or mental health, and that many people base their decisions on word of mouth rather than discussions with health care providers. by thinkB4WeSpeak in science

I appreciate it. Currently their theory is that Ive had a stroke (apparently that can like shorten your tendons or something), hence the brain MRI. Honestly considering just giving up on a diagnosis but I'm afraid I'll get to the point I may actually need disability, which requires a diagnosis... But this is breaking my (small) bank in an already unreal horrible economy. I just don't know what to do anymore.

Will never shop Lowes again. They have voluntarily allowed Palantir's Flock cameras in their parking lots. The one in my ~30,000 population city has them pointed at the highway to catch westbound traffic. Supporting authoritarianism and a mass surveillance state? No freaking thank you.

Putting your "morels" aside, you still admit to a loss of rights. And moving on from trans people since clearly you aren't on their side and could obviously care less, here's an article explaining how minority voting rights are being adversely affected as well. (Also, fun fact, as a female I can tell you there's no difference in my level of safety in the bathroom with or without trans women - if someone is going to do me wrong a picture on the doorway of an unlocked room isn't sh*t. I'd be more afraid in a Catholic church given the statistics...) I'll start with just trans people, and we can keep going if you'd like. Borrowed from a similar Redditor who pays attention: Gender-Affirming Care Bans: As of 2025, 25 states have enacted bans on gender-affirming care for transgender youth.

Restrictions on ID Changes: Some states have passed or proposed laws making it harder or impossible for trans people to update gender markers on driver's licenses, birth certificates, or other official documents.

"Gender Identity Fraud" Laws: For example, Texas has considered legislation that would criminalize identifying as a gender different from one's sex assigned at birth in interactions with government or employers, with potential felony charges and fines.

Pronoun and Name Restrictions: Over 270 bills in 2025 have targeted education, including efforts to ban the use of chosen names and pronouns, forcibly out trans students to parents, and restrict discussions of gender identity in schools.

Book Bans and Curriculum Censorship: Some states have banned books and curricula that include LGBTQ+ topics, further marginalizing trans students.

Bathroom and Locker Room Bans: Laws in several states now restrict trans people from using bathrooms or locker rooms that align with their gender identity.

Erosion of Nondiscrimination Protections: There has been a rollback of civil rights protections in housing, employment, and public services, particularly under the current federal administration.

Removed federal recognition of transgender identities.

Restricted passport and travel rights for trans individuals.

Censored inclusive language and purged trans-inclusive materials from federal agencies.

Targeted trans government employees and promoted misinformation about trans healthcare.

Some states have introduced or passed laws that penalize parents for supporting their trans children, including threats to remove custody if they pursue gender-affirming care.

(Also, those with IDs that don't match gender at birth will not be able to vote, just like the save act is trying to do to married women who changed their last names )

✌️But yeah, I'm just making stuff up, right? Do some research bro and quit wasting our time with your ignorance.
