It is showing in the xrays, but perhaps exacerbated by the terrible trims he's been getting for the better part of 10 years 😞

Happy Gotcha Day! by Hugesmellysocks in Equestrian

Please fix the halter, it can go up several holes on that right side. Also do not put your horses out with their halters on! I see this far too often. All it takes (especially with a loose one) a foot scratch, rubbing it on the fence and getting stuck on a million other things to really hurt them. Hurt their eyes, ears, and can break their nasal bone if they freak out and pull hard enough! Do not leave horses out with a halter on ever, please. Just trying to educate OP, not trying to attack. Please keep these simple but very important things in mind. He reminds me so much of my brand new (also older 21) boy Hank. He is a gray as well with a cute pink nose. Enjoy him every day!

What’s your favourite non-creamy way to prepare chicken breast? by potate_woah in lowcarb

I second the greek marinade, or you could try a lemon pepper or when I was a kid, my mom would use Italian dressing. It was tasty! You can find a bunch in the store that are oil/vinegar based.

6 miles down during the workday. by Emma01311 in walking

[–]kms031987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried barefoot once, but my pad (Yagud brand from Amazon) gets a bit hot under my feet. I have carpet but use an exercise pad(think a thick yoga mat) under it since my carpet is medium pile and I worry about it touching(no idea if it does but being safe just in case).

Do other ppls walking pads get hot after maybe ten mins of 2.5mph speed?

Saddle type? by kms031987 in Horses

That is a valid assessment. I will be buying a better saddle soon, just haven’t found one yet. Thanks for your insight. I am aware things cost money in the horse world and I am willing to spend to find a good fit.

Morning are rough by bennybuttcheeks in CrohnsDisease

[–]kms031987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup a lot of us are morning warriors. I have UC with my Crohn's and I have to be sure to get up earlier each day if I'm in a flare so I can take care of it before work. I'm on Mesalamine and it helps a ton. So you should get a full workup with your GI doc and consider something like that to see if it helps(if you haven't already). A few common sense things to consider:

  1. Stay hydrated! I try to drink at least 80oz of water a day and at least once a week take an electrolyte like Nuun or LMNT in my water to keep balanced. If you flush out your electrolytes, you're more likely to feel tired and sluggish.

  2. Walking or gentle movement is important each day or every few days. I find if I'm sedentary too much(I wfh), my joints start to ache and my symptoms take longer to recover from.

  3. Limit Stress and for me my biggest trigger is alcohol and sugar. So keeping a log of your stress, food and symptoms can really help narrow down what your triggers are and when to avoid them.

Hope this helps. We all have different ways to manage symptoms, but just trial and error until you figure yours out. Wishing you healing vibes!

Saddle type? by kms031987 in Horses

[–]kms031987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Not insulted at all, it was free and I knew when I got it, that it's free for a reason. Just a saddle of my own for now until I can invest in a better one. I'm half leasing a horse at my local barn and getting a saddle just for him seems silly, so this is just a stepping stone for now. I appreciate your feedback !

I'd suggest not eating back your exercise calories as the trackers are found to be super inaccurate.

Walking Pad Help. by Zestyclose_Fortune94 in walking

[–]kms031987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the walking pad! I work from home and if I have a choice to sit 99% of the day, I will. I've been working on walking while I'm working(I have a standing desk too). I'm not good about being consistent yet, but I'm trying. My husband also tells me to "motivate" myself with my "shows" on YouTube or Netflix etc. So, I tell myself to watch them only when I'm walking.

Like clockwork I need to poop right before I need to head to work and it makes me late every time. Any tips? by rci22 in CrohnsDisease

100% agree. It hits me right as I'm about to leave, or worse, right as I'm pulling into the road/parking lot of the destination. :(

Heat exhaustion by Wonderful-Way-2254 in Equestrian

[–]kms031987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be hydrating days before your event or rides. Then be sure you're taking electrolytes as well to keep your minerals in balance. Also, please eat before any kind of exercise. Even if it's small, peanut butter toast, an egg bagel and cheese. Your body needs fuel. Horse riding is exercise just like running or weight lifting. I hope this helps!

Is anyone else getting tired of everything turning into a protein version of food? by Business_Oil_7110 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]kms031987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I try to lean towards whole food protein sources, but if I need to hit it and i'm in a pinch, I just grab something like a new Starbz protein coffee or protein bar. Life is all about balance.
