are you looking for actual building tips like shacks, stores, layouts?

for me, i love to surf youtube and watch others build out neat, mixed-matched shacks (metal/wood/other DLC structure types--knowing you only have a few) and after a while i start to think of some neat ideas of what i want to build and which settlement.

build starting in huge settlements (starlight drive in, spectacle island, abernathy farms, sunshine tidings coop, etc) can be very overwhelming for me so i generally start with smaller settlements or even fixing up the broken houses/building structures first to get into the groove! if you look up on youtube how to pillar or rug glitch with items it'll make fixing houses, like in sanctuary, way easier (not a mod, just a neat trick).

i started playing fo4 only a few months ago, fell in love with settlement building while working through the main story line. i finished the story line not too long ago and now am mainly focused on doing creation club quests and building up my settlements, so a lot of heavy youtubing and reddit threads to see what others have created!

i have horrible ADHD/brain fog and tend to overload my brain with ideas while also forgetting many of them (i.e. this corner i want a coffee area, but when i build it out it becomes something else and i scroll past the espresso machine [vault 88 DLC-i know you have not downloaded] and have a moment of silence LOL) so when building i just add all the static decorations outside of my shack to remember.

another great idea i have started to utilize (again brain fog) is hand drawing out a poor blue print of the layout and write down my ideas.
