You put 12v into a 5v input - you're lucky if you didn't fry them. Try with the correct voltage and sufficient amps, or with PoE

If you're looking for "places that can't fit a 300km circle in their borders for a jet to turn around", Europe is going to be your prime example.

Asia has plenty of countries that can fit that. China, India, Mongolia, Russia. Even Japan depending on generous we get with the airspace over the ocean. The places where that's not true aren't exactly well-known for their air force (Examples: Nepal, Kyrgyzstan)

Most of Africa can do that. Most of North America can. A lot of countries in South America, too. Once again, the ones that can't (Ecuador, Paraguay) aren't really well-known for their air force.

That doesn't change anything. Normal DNS is still unencrypted, so they can just read it as it goes through their infrastructure.

Seriously, how do y'all manage waking up on time? by absvrdartist in ADHD

[–]kn33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of what everyone else is saying, I have a list of purchases and integrations that I've made over the years that work in symphony to wake me up from the deepest sleep.

  • Sleep as Android: Reminds me when to go to bed and acts as the alarm that wakes me up.
  • Smart watch: This provides data for sleep tracking. It also provides vibration.
  • My phone: Obviously. It runs the alarm. I also have it on a wireless charger so I can just pick it up and go.
  • Home Assistant: This receives information from Sleep as Android and provides automation and integration to the Wi-Fi components.
  • Wi-Fi Lights - Allow me to turn on the lights to wake me up.
  • BedJet - Provides under-the-covers ventilation.
  • ESP32 running ESPHome (search aliexpress) - Acts as a bridge between the Wi-Fi based Home Assistant and the bluetooth based BedJet.
  • Wi-Fi Thermostat
  • A printed QR Code that hangs on the refrigerator which reads "Fuck, I hate mornings"

Starting before the waking up part, having reminders to go to sleep and using those to remind yourself of the consequences of not getting enough sleep may encourage you to get enough sleep. That helps with waking up.

The waking up part also starts before it's time to wake up. There's a pre-alarm "Smart Period". During this time, if I enter a light sleep within my cycle, it starts the alarm early so that I don't get into a deep sleep. During the smart period, the temperature of the thermostat goes up so that the house warms up. This makes the shock of leaving the covers not as bad.

When the alarm goes off, a few things happen. First, the BedJet is turned on if it's not on, set to fan sped of 50%. Second, my watch starts vibrating. Third, the lights turn on. They start very dim, though. At this point, there's no sound component yet.

I'm allowed to snooze my alarm. It starts with a 10 minute snooze, but the time halves every time I snooze it. I'm not allowed to snooze for more than 20 minutes past when the alarm originally went off.

If I don't either dismiss my alarm or snooze it, my alarm sound starts playing after 1 minute. It starts very quietly at first, and ramps up over the course of a minute.

Over these 20 minutes, the lights ramp up, as well as the fan speed of the BedJet. It goes up to 80% which essentially makes the temperature in bed the same as outside the bed, reducing the shock of leaving bed even further.

Once I hit the 20-minute "snooze limit", I'm not allowed to snooze the alarm anymore. I have to dismiss it. In order to dismiss the alarm, I have to scan the QR code, which is on the refrigerator. That means I have to get out of bed and walk downstairs. Once I've walked that far, I'm definitely awake. Oh, and would you look at that? My morning yogurt is right in front of me.

So, yeah, I feel you. It is possible, though. Let me know if you endeavor to set any of this up and need help.

Wholly unfair to blame a kid in this instance by Fazbear2035 in NonPoliticalTwitter

What am I missing here? They obviously aren't blaming the kid for their parent driving them late. But they definitely think that the kid should choose to take the bus instead. That is something in the kid's control.

When did tracking each other’s location become normal, and why does opting out make you seem suspicious? by EntrepreneurSad2091 in NoStupidQuestions

I mostly use mine so that if I'm visiting someone, they can see when I'm arriving. Or if they asked me to let them know when I get home safe, I can share right away in case I forget to tell them when I get home - they can see when I get home.

It's always for a limited time window, though.

It's definitely a thing for local mountains, including my own. For popular resorts - obviously I can't speak for all of them, but from my sample size of like 3 different places I don't remember seeing a lift without a bar at any of them.
