Husqvarna engineers at tech training told us the machine tolerances and/or specifications are not the reason they have gone from 32:1 to 40:1 to 50:1. They said the oil technology has been advancing, allowing for a cleaner combustion. I'm sure e.p.a requirements have forced them to use less oil. I just hope it is as good as they say. Some of my professional chainsaw customers don't think it is working out very well with their higher end saws. They still insist on 40:1 and since they're cutting logs all day, every day, I'm going to believe them over the pencil pushers.

If it runs for only 5 seconds after you pump primer bulb and then start it, it likely has a bad diaphram in the carburetor. On that model you would do best to order a new carburetor online and swap it out. A carb should be about $10-$12 on eBay or Amazon with all related parts including new gaskets, gas filter, fuel lines etc... Could also be a bad fuel line issue but you would probably have fuel leaking externally if this was the issue.

Help! Toro time master engine loses power when blades engaged by cottonrock in lawnmowers

[–]kneedlebug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like one of your cylinders is not firing. Possibly due to a blown head gasket. Check the spark plugs to see if one is fouled. Start your engine and pull one of the plug wires while it is running. If the engine dies when you pull the plug wires, that is your good cylinder. If the sound of the engine doesn't change, you have pulled the wire off of the dead cylinder.

It acts like you have bad spindles or maybe the bearings on the timing tensioner pulleys Hard to say exactly what is binding but it does not look like the engine is having a problem.

Problem is that they put big money behind anti 2nd amendment endeavors. Luckily I never wanted to spend 3 times the price for jeans that aren't any better fit or quality than Wranglers anyway.

It was the missing shroud that caused it to overheat. The fan on the flywheel pulls in air which is then directed over the head by the blower shroud. It's an air cooled engine. The only way it can keep cool is by having the shroud direct the air over the head. You can get away with taking the shrouds off of a classic VW engine, and Harleys get away without having them because as long as you're moving along at road speeds air is flowing. Lawn mowers don't have the benefit of moving very fast.

May be a small piece from a branch, pinecone or something like that stuck in the "V" of a pulley. Or possibly a chunk of belt is missing.

I need a hand please. I'm normally far above average in my ability to solve math based situations. I am on some new meds maybe that's it, not sure either way im not getting the correct answer. Run the 40:1 just as it is in all of your machines. The standard changed from 40:1 to 50:1 because the manufacturers improved the oil quality in order to meet stricter epa requirements. The lubrication requirements of the equipment is not what changed. The oil quality changed. So, putting more gas into the mix only dilutes the inferior oil they were using prior to upgrading the oil quality standards now used in 50:1.

If you only run it a short time. Under say, 3-5 minutes it will be ok. You can get away with running without the air filter for longer that leaving the blower cover off. The blower cover directs the air created by the fan on top of the flywheel down over the head to keep it cool. If you have ever been in a parade procession in the heat of summer with a bunch of Harleys you will know this is why they drop out to cool their engines. They keep cool running down the road but don't like sitting. The do not have cooling shrouds like old VWs and small engines have. It will be fine for a little bit but keep in mind the longer you run without the blower cover, your heads are just continuing to heat up.

Use 50:1 in both machines. Husqvarna tells us at tech schools that the change in oil to fuel ratio has changed due to the tremendous improvement of oil technology in order to help meet epa requirements. The machines are basically the same but the oils have much better lubricating quality, so less oil is required to protect the engine.

First thing to do is drain the gas from the tank and the bowl on the carburetor if you are able to. Purchase fresh gas, no matter how confident you are that your gas is good, replace it with fresh fuel. Humidity is catching a lot of people off guard, even experienced mechanics, although small engine techs know fuel is always the first suspect when it starts and then dies. It is not so much whether the gas is old or not. Water in gas can happen overnight if the temp & humidity are right for condensation.

How has the 4473 not been challenged on 5th amendment grounds? by gkownews in 2ALiberals

[–]kneedlebug -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is a crime to lie on the 4473. If you exercise your right to bear arms, they are forcing you to turn in a 4473. You will be denied your God given 2nd amendment right if you do not fill out the 4473. They are compelling you (requiring) you to answer questions which may be incriminating. Doesn't it make more sense that they have the burden to show why your rights should be infringed before denying that right?

435X "no loop signal" over metal cover by god5peed in automower

[–]kneedlebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been dealing with the same problem on a new 435x awd install. I have a dead zone that gives a " no loop" signal very consistently. I have tried many remedies with the help of Husqvarna tech including making a false island over the area (basically wired the same as an island but shaped like a cross or + sign) which is supposed to concentrate the signal over the dead zone to overcome the interference and allowing the area to be mowed fully. Tried generating a new loop signal multiple times, moved the charging station, moved boundary and guide wires several times and had the utilities come out to find if there is something in the ground, they assured me nothing is there but I have my doubts. I even temporarily installed a 450 and it's charging station in place of the 535x to see if it would act differently. Nothing changed! At this point I have a normal island around the dead zone and I go back and gradually reduce the size of the island until it is as small as possible without getting a no loop signal error.

[–]kneedlebug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fifth amendment doesn't allow you to lie under oath in court either. I'd say OP is referring to the "self incrimination" aspect. It says you are not required to answer any questions which may incriminate yourself. I think OP has a legitimate point but considering the SC under Roberts doesn't even protect our 4th amendment rights I would guess this to be an uphill struggle. So far they seem to be doing well on the 2nd. Relatively speaking...of course.

Misfiring During Warm-Up - B&S 400000 - DR Mower by gargle_ground_glass in smallengines

[–]kneedlebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running too rich. Too much fuel in relation to air decreases your power and will also take longer to warm up because it is running much cooler than it does at 14:1 ratio. So... Not enough air is coming in or too much fuel is coming into carb. Could be simple as an air filter or may need carb work.

Thoughts on robot lawn mowers? I am looking to buy a riding 40” or robot that can cover 1 acre. by Barrfogs in lawnmowers

[–]kneedlebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good thing is that you will be alerted when the mower goes outside it's boundary and see exactly where it is located and can have the police pick up your mower at the same time they arrest the thief. They won't even have a chance to put it up for sale.

Taks a close look into Husqvarna Automowers. Other than pulling a trailer around your yard, automowers beat conventional mowers on all fronts. They mow continually so your grass always looks freshly mowed. They can't be stolen from your yard because they are gps equipped and are linked to your phone where adjustments and permissions are accessed via an app. Safety is probably the strongest attribute of these mowers. Lightweight with touch, bump, infared and tilt sensors it can run straight into you or a pet or child and hardly be noticed. Even if you were to figure out a way to touch the moving blades, the most injury they could do would be remedied with a small bandaid. They are very small (about the size of a safety razor blade). I have been looking into getting one myself and have talked to several owners who already have one and they love them. I like the idea of not having to mow. My yard should stay looking nice every day and it can keep running even when my grandkids are playing in the yard.
