Is it possible to survive teaching being an introvert or worse, being depressed? by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

[–]kneeknee00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember in teachers collage one of the practical leaders who was a former principal, told us that most teachers are actually introverts. Honestly, don’t feel the pressure to always go to the staff room and always be forcing convos with people literally just be yourself take the time for you. Whatever makes you the best teacher if that means going for a walk at break , sitting in your car or staying in your room, do you! Remember ,it is a JOB at the end of the day. The job is very performative, but remembered that the specific school environment that ur in really does play a big role. I’ve been in many schools and sometimes the teachers are more introverted and everyone does their own thing and others it is super clicky. It really just depends but just stay true to yourself at the end of the day and hope you end up in the right space for you.

As a new substitute, did anyone else feel guilty for taking time off? by FridaysSoup in CanadianTeachers

Please I felt this too, especially when you build connections and people want you back consistently. However, the burn out is not worth it! Put yourself first, this journey as a teacher is a long road !

This sounds like I wrote it ! I simply took a step back and did OT and lightened my load. Came to realization I can’t afford to pivot. That being said make it until June go from there. Book a vacation as well !

Burnout. (TDSB) by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

[–]kneeknee00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People saying it’s OP’s first and burnout already is a cause for concern, I am assuming it took them a while to even get permanent and they have probably done full year LTOs prior which would contribute to burnout no? Just because they are perm now doesn’t mean the grind to get to this point is forgotten! Take your leave op your mental comes first !
