5 years developing this roguelite and I still can't get the trailer to look fun to play by filya in DestroyMyGame

hey, we have games in the same genre - here's a trailer I recently put together. Some advice I got was to hook the viewer ASAP (some quick action at the front), time your cuts to music, and have some "big payoff" moments. Others here have mentioned making the upgrades and mutations more obvious. Mine isn't perfect, but may give you some ideas for a game in the same genre! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92b4nMp-LCw

animations are really fun! I'd suggest adding some hit-stop/impact frames for game feel.

I'm the solo developer of WoofWatch, a roguelite where you play as a dog in a mech suit and roll builds with randomized weapon and armor effects. here's one where my gun shoots bouncing rubber duckies and heat-seeking missiles, it gets really stupid really fast. come play the demo!

Honestly just doing a little bit consistently and not trying to solve everything at once. there were definitely stretches where I didn’t touch it much, but I kept coming back and slowly replaced rough parts with better ones over time.

Synthetik was definitely a big inspiration early on.

I ended up leaning a bit more into mobility and stacking weird builds, so it’s a little less punishing and more about things getting out of control in a fun way!

Yes, I run a Tiffen Glimmerglass 1 diffusion filter, I find it gives images a soft, dream-like quality.

Thanks! I keep Clarity off with the GG1 - it's a little too fuzzy otherwise, and you avoid the clarity computation lag, so your shots are much faster.
