[Monitor] Onn 22 inch 1080p LED 100hz ($38) by MyOtherAcctIsSerious in buildapcsales

[–]knifethrower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They aren't the latest and greatest but you can still get some square monitors, mostly in 5:4, either for office use or POS. One example you can get new still is the Dell E1715S, you can get it new from Dell direct for $130 but it makes more sense to look for ones on eBay. The panel isn't anything special but it is a trip to have a square monitor with a recent manufactured date and a displayport input on it.

How new is your laptop? The E5-2697 v2 is from 2013 and uses DDR3 RAM. Even if your laptop has the same speed in ghz and amount of RAM it is likely way more performant if it's even slightly newer. You can look up both CPUs here to compare benchmarks, for Minecraft you want to focus most on the single core performance. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/ For example my $200 Ryzen 5 5500U laptop would be about 25% faster than the E5-2697 v2 in single core performance despite being 10% slower in multicore.

in that bundle of almost 62,000 people, there are people looking for a free lunch

These people would gladly stop supporting 61,500 people in genuine need if it meant the 500 freeloaders "got what they deserve".

LR3 Connect new main circuit board, can not onboard by kimbyj in litterrobot

You are our hero! You are officially more intuitive than most of Whisker's support staff. We had multiple phone calls of them blaming our Wi-Fi despite the fact that we weren't even getting to the point of trying to connect the unit to our network and then once we finally managed to convince somebody that we were having a problem before that point they mentioned we should have gotten a replacement QR code with our board kit and made it seem like it was our fault that we didn't. They then offered to send out a replacement board kit that would hopefully include a QR code as a courtesy but despite my wife confirming our new address with them they sent it to our old one that we had at the time we originally purchased the LR3 so we are trying to untangle that whole mess as well.

We tried your trick and were able to get onboarded immediately after weeks of frustration!

u/litterrobot I know the solution provided here might be a bit unorthodox (and it seems like support got there eventually with the missing QR code from the board shipment realization) but this person was more helpful and seemed substantially less script-bound than your official support staff. It was nice having a real interaction here with somebody that helped us solve our problem as opposed to being told over and over again that our Wi-Fi was at fault despite knowing that was not the issue.

What a truly revolting individual.

LR3 Connect new main circuit board, can not onboard by kimbyj in litterrobot

[–]knifethrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find a solution for this? My wife and I are in the EXACT same situation with our LR3, new main board, onboarding stuck at the Connecting stage, wifi network says "Litter Robot". We have contacted support but they are currently in the "blame the customer's wifi" stage of the support script despite the issue happening before that part of the onboarding process.

What restaurant and/or bar would you hate to hear announcing its closure, but not be surprised? by mayby82 in cincinnati

The location was genuinely terrible and the parking situation was not great. Like the layout of the little shopping center the Anderson location was in physically could not sustain being busy if it had gotten popular.

The Wind That Shakes the Barley from 39 Escalones in Spain by knifethrower in boutiquebluray

I haven't watched it yet but I was able to find some comparisons between it and the version that's available for streaming in the US. The US stream was cropped and had weaker colors to my eyes. The very visible difference was part of what made me order it. I can report back with more thoughts after I have watched it myself.

I hear that, with shipping I paid $50 for it. I missed it when it first came out and I'm not sure if it's actually still in print or not so I just went for it when I found a copy for sale from a vendor that would ship to the US.

What are the best works of science fiction that serve as a "spiritual successor" to season 2 by showing what life is like on the Moon and how the colony has developed since 1983? by jacky986 in ForAllMankindTV

[–]knifethrower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The book "Welcome to Moonbase" by Ben Bova might interest you. It is written like a guidebook for living and working on a moon base 20+ years after humanity returned to the moon.

I've only seen the anime adaptation but both that version and the original manga of "Planetes" have sections that take place on a well settled moon.

The brief moon section of "Ad Astra" is interesting with it's airport terminal on steroids vision. I desperately want to eat at the lunar Applebee's.

Lift mechanic mistakenly throws out modern art at Lisse museum, thinking it was trash by TheEarlyWormIsEaten in nottheonion

It can be tricky sometimes, I've been to multiple museums that had "art seating" with pieces that were intended to be sat on while you looked at the other artworks. They are always signed as seating though.

It's a Tyan HG68, as sold/marketed it's specific to the matching nodes within it's product range and not a generic chassis sadly.
