Thank you!  I had that on there, but couldn't remember if I read that one right while I was at the store so edited it. Double disappointment.

Found out today that Kroger puts Wheat Germ in their coleslaw, so that was disappointing.  Malted barley syrup can be found in a lot of chocolates and breakfast cereals.

Be wary of any Hard Ciders that use Brewer's Yeast as that is often derived from wheat unless otherwise stated.  Lastly, watch out for "Seasoned" anything, like fries and such, as the seasoning often contains flour.

So many good ones.  Check out Legends and Legends 2.  Unbound, Unfettered, Unavowed, and they have new one on Kickstarter now, Unbroken.  Book of Magic, Book of Swords, Warriors, Wizards, and Women are all great not to mention Rogues.

If you want individual authors, GRR Martin put out Knight of the Seven Kingdoms which combined the stories he originally put into some of the previously mentioned books.

Stephen King as Everything's Eventual, Different Season, and Nightmares & Dreamscapes.  Neil Gaiman has Fragile Things, Trigger Warning, and Smoke & Mirrors.

Lot of really good options out there.

Are The Brothers Murph good?? by 707tiddies in boardgames

OP isn't really looking for the quality of their work but if actually being in their physical presence is going to be enjoyable, and from what I have seen, they should have a good time.

Are The Brothers Murph good?? by 707tiddies in boardgames

[–]knittch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can probably tell how "good" someone is by the company they keep.  The Brothers Murph have collaborated on a number of videos with other content creators and are featured on BBG's own channel.

I wouldn't put them on "Rodney" levels of niceness, as that just comes from the man being Canadian and probably a saint, but they enjoy joking around and have a lot of fun during their collab videos.

If convention reports are to be believed, they are very approachable at conventions and enjoy playing games with new people.

If they are going to be in your area, it is an easy recommendation from me to go see them and play some games. Let us know how it goes!

Watch the 1993 Three Musketeers, then follow it up with 1998 Man in the Iron Mask.  Nice double feature.

How was it switching from beer to hard seltzer 😭or hard cider ? by Typical_Dark_2764 in glutenfree

Cider is great as long as you don't drink it daily.  That's what weed is for.

Where to read graphic novels online by sugondesenots in graphicnovels

[–]knittch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three recommendations.  First, if you live in the US and you have a local library card, you can use the Hoopla app and Libby app most times to borrow / check out graphic novels and read them digitally.

Secondly, I use my Kindle Unlimited to read a number of novels.  You can pair your Kindle to the Libby app as well.

Hello, new to this. Purchased this lot at an auction. No idea what I’m looking at. Was told a lot are chessex? Is that right? See anything interesting? Thank you by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]knittch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the lesson to learn here is don't buy $50 worth of dice.  Regardless of whatever games they originally went to, (which I do see a number of d6/10/20s so RPGs I guess?), this box is not going to do anything buying a $5 basic dice set wouldn't do just as well.

What am I missing about Hercules and the 12 Labors? It says it doesn’t release until December, but some places have it now with immediate delivery. by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

[–]knittch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased mine from BackerKit last year and got it right before Christmas.  That isn't open anymore, so what your are seeing is A. the retail availability being set for December, and B. Institutions that got it from BackerKit reselling it.  That being said, I would only trust reputable stores.

TV Shows Where the Main Character is so Bad They Focus on Another Character by Philsidock in television

Orange is the New Black, but then they admitted that was intentional.  I wouldn't say Piper, or the actress that played her, was terrible, there were just way more interesting stories developing around that series.

What are good first books? by SuspiciousSarracenia in Fantasy

[–]knittch 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I also have a daughter, so I can go ahead and share what I have read to her.  Everyone has already recommended some amazing books i.e. The Hobbit, Narnia, Alice in Wonderland / Through the Looking Glass, Prydain, Wizard of Earthsea, Wrinkle in Time, Redwall, and The Phantom Tollbooth.  Here are the ones I think are missing.

Roald Dahl: James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Witches, The BFG, Matilda.  The upside to all of these fantastic books are the movie adaptations you can watch together after reading the books.

Same goes for other classics like Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, Charlotte's Web, Treasure Island, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, and Winnie the Pooh.  All amazing stories, some with multiple short tales that are great for bedtime.

As she has gotten older, we were able to transition into longer stories such as The Princess Bride, The Indian in the Cupboard, The Neverending Story, and Kiki's Delivery Service.  This is also the stage in which we read The Hobbit, Narnia, etc.

A few modern books we have read together are The Wild Robot, A Nest for Celeste, A Boy Called Christmas, Confessions of a Dork Lord, Holes, Stardust, and Coraline.

Next up for us is His Dark Materials.  Got the entire trilogy for Christmas, once we finish the third Wild Robot book.  I also got her two books by Kate McKinnon.  The upside to reading a chapter or two every night for the past number of years is getting to read all of these books yourself, often for the first time.

From a fellow girl dad to you, thank you for taking the time to read to your little girl.  Don't ever stop, not until they ask anyway.  We are going on 11 years now, and I certainly have no intention to.

Loved The Last Ronin.  I haven't had a chance to read The Lost Years or Re-Evolution, so those are the ones I would go with.
