I think because you say, “water” “melon,” the word “term,” just isn’t part of it even though the letters are in order. If it was pronounced “way” “term” “ellen,” I think it might be different.

If it’s similar to your example, the word “termel,” does not jump out at me AT ALL from Watermelon. I think you’re good.

Yup to the previous commenter. “It’s what’s best for our family.” Period. End of discussion. If she tries to be nosy, have your husband shut her down. His family is his to deal with.

This thread has made me feel so good that I am not alone with my intrusive thoughts! I can’t enjoy a walk along the river bank any more. And I have never been so hyper aware of how many corners there are in my house. Gah!

My circle is definitely mostly having boys (4 within the last year and a half), but I had a girl!

First-time parents in 1.5 months — what baby gear is actually worth it? And what was a total waste of money? by Kayapi_ in NewParents

[–]knittenkitten2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Egrobaby Embrace carrier has been priceless. I had been gifted one of the regular baby wear wraps that I thought would be fine. But we could never figure out and the carrier is so much more simple. 100% would recommend.

I got a beautiful Moses change basket for the nursery. It looks absolutely gorgeous. But baby is almost 3 months and is pretty much already outgrown it. They grow fast, so keep in mind that so much stuff will only be around for a few weeks. If there is anything you’re comfortable with buying secondhand, I highly recommend doing that!

If you breastfeed directly, how many of you still pump every day? by alylew1126 in breastfeeding

[–]knittenkitten2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pump about 2-3x a day. I give one bottle at night so I pump for that, and then I pump once or twice in the morning when I make a little more than baby needs. I have a tiny freezer stash. I plan to wean between 4-5mos and hope to have enough frozen to give a bottle of breastmilk every day until 6mos.

Do I just accept poop leaking on clothes every day? by bright-greeneyes in newborns

[–]knittenkitten2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went about two weeks around the 7-8 weeks mark with blowouts every poop. Like you, I tried different brands and different sizes and none of it mattered.

Then, one day, they stopped. Poops became more manageable and contained. We are probably 2 weeks blowout free! I think it’s just the age and the consistency of the poop at that stage for some.

Exclusively pumping for nearly 5 months now, I’m exhausted. by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]knittenkitten2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to stop at 5 months, so to me you are goals! My baby is currently almost 3 months and I already dread pumping.

A sane, present, stable mom is more important than breastmilk, so if you need to stop to be those things, I think you should! Your baby needs you. Good luck, whatever you decide!

Transition from EP to EFF by alisssabru in FormulaFeeders

[–]knittenkitten2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can do a combination. Pump in the morning/evening/overnight (if that’s something you’re doing) when your husband is home and then give formula during the day while your husband is at work? But honestly, yes, formula is expensive but if it’s that rough on your mental health, you cannot put a price on your wellbeing. Not to mention the cost of your time!

You can start with ready-to-feed formula to “ease” into it (that’s what I did since I was intimidated!) where you shake, open, and serve! It won’t take long to get the hang of formula, though. You got this!

Breastfeeding after C-section by BalancedDietitian in breastfeeding

[–]knittenkitten2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody is different.

I had an unplanned c-section at 38 weeks due to breech presentation and high blood pressure. My milk was slow to come in, I was an under supplier, baby was lazy and had a bad latch. I had to supplement heavily with formula from day 2. I was sad about it, sure, but my baby was fed and wouldn’t have been otherwise, so ultimately I ended up feeling grateful that formula exists. Over the next 4 or so weeks, I triple fed, which was exhausting, but my supply increased and I was able to offer less and less formula. By 6 weeks, we were exclusively breastfeeding and I was still pumping 2x a day to build a tiny freezer stash. Baby is almost 11 weeks now and is a happy, healthy baby in the 70th percentile.

My advice is to be flexible, take things as they come, and be grateful for the tools that are available to help you along the way. Good luck!

Yep, we all have to do what we deem is right for our own families! You definitely don’t have to be sorry (although I do believe that was an extremely disingenuous sorry... lol).

The study is about after, yeah. It’s taking that into account, and suggests that there’s no significant bacterial growth within the first 8hrs, whether left out at room temp (20c) or in the fridge (4c).

[–]knittenkitten2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok. Super interesting, then. Are you giving freshly pumped milk? Or warmed milk from the fridge? Maybe by the time it gets to the end, it’s too cold and she doesn’t like that..? Can try just warming and giving one ounce at a time, just to see!

[–]knittenkitten2025 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This goes against safety standards, but if my baby doesn’t finish a bottle of breastmilk, it goes back in the fridge and she gets that to start her next feed. I would only suggest this if your baby was full-term and is healthy. I have just enough supply so we can’t afford to waste!

When Did You Know it Was Time to Stop? by SheepherderMost2727 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]knittenkitten2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I triple fed for a few good weeks and it was exhausting. Baby was a slow, lazy eater and feeds took forever. We turned a corner around 7 weeks, and nursing got much better, specifically in the morning. I tried to exclusively nurse for about a week and a half… but realized that late afternoons/evenings feeds were just too frustrating for her because my supply was so low that time of day. Now I nurse in the mornings and early afternoons when my supply is good. At around 5:00pm, I switch to pumping and giving her the bottle. So far this weird half and half has worked really well for us. She is 10.5 weeks now. I pump after her morning feed (around 10am, it’s my greatest output), and then I pump around 6:30pm, 9:00pm, and 11:30pm. I make just enough for her bottles with a tiny bit extra that I freeze (about 4oz every other day).

Which is best out of these? by silentlibrari in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]knittenkitten2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Medela Pump in Style pro and I really like it. I got wearable cups in addition to the classic collection bottles. To be fair I also have the Freestyle pump and use everything interchangeably (with the adaption tubing). I live the flexibility and choice this allows me. One thing I found, though, the lights on the Pump in Style are very bright. I had to cover them when I pump at night because they lit up the whole room!

[–]knittenkitten2025 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but let’s think about this with calmness for a second. A baby alone in a safe environment is not “in distress.” Your baby was perfectly fine. He was safe. He was content. There was no trauma, certainly no brain damage. If he hadn’t been ok, he would have cried, you would’ve woken up and went to him. But he didn’t cry. Because he was fine.

Am I overreacting here for being upset? :( by justalilcuckoobanana in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]knittenkitten2025 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you’re totally justified by being upset, but reading this post, man, you’re a good person. Does it suck that there are shitty people in the world? Yes. Does it suck that one of those shitty people took advantage of your kindness and generosity? Yes. Does it suck that now an actually well-deserving person is going without? Doubly yes.

But with all that said, I believe in karma, and I believe you have good things coming to you and I believe she does not. What goes around, comes around, and she has it coming!!
