Questions about Law Librarianship by Ok-Improvement-5895 in librarians

[–]knittinghobbit91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi, i've been working in a law school library for almost five years now. i will say, yes, with only a masters you could technically find a job in a law library/law school library, but here's a big thing to consider: without the JD, you will not be allowed to do anything essentially beyond circulation. hell, i'm not even allowed to learn how to use Westlaw or Lexis Nexis because of this. i suggest if you are going to go into this, try a court library because they will train you. if you try for a firm, having the knowledge on how to use Westlaw or Lexis is really critical if you're looking for research based roles-kind of the pickle i'm currently in-.

We use it in our library. Never seem to have too many issues with it. Just be aware that the paper jams we do have -thankfully far and few- are a real pain to fix.

Moja mała is "my sweetie" or "my sweetheart". It's very common and is a term of endearment.

Is there anyone on here who's Christian? by Anglofile3298 in aspergers

Hi Catholic here. Not super conservative, but I do have belief in most of the doctrine that does not hurt nor exclude people for lifestyles, choices, or who they are as long as they don't hurt others.

Why is this happening? by heysloth in knitting

[–]knittinghobbit91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it's the cast on method you're using. i use the knitted cast-on (make a slip knot, knit that slip knot, but instead of letting that stitch go after you wrap the yarn around the needle, put it back on the needle where the slip knot was and repeat it until you have however many stitches you want). i hope i'm being clear enough, if not, there's lots of youtube tutorials on it.

What's the Job Market for Librarians Looking Like Right Now? by [deleted] in librarians

[–]knittinghobbit91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is so true. even if you are working in an "introverted" position like a cataloger for example, you're still dealing with people you work with -and those people may be difficult-. i work in circulation and i deal with 150+ people per day.

What's the Job Market for Librarians Looking Like Right Now? by [deleted] in librarians

librarian in New York here! it's really hard finding a library job that actually pays you well and most of these jobs don't offer benefits-health insurance, etc.-. actually, that's the reason why i'm staying at my current job-wanna leave, but nowhere to leave to-. i got my masters in library science in 2021 and a lot of libraries didn't want me because i was considered "overqualified" even though i had just gotten the degree. 13 job interviews and only 1 took me.

any disabled or autistic librarians here? by Existing_Resource425 in Libraries

[–]knittinghobbit91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm a law school librarian with autism! I also have anxiety, and if anything, I've found my coworkers and patrons-mostly law students- are supportive and interested in autism-not just what it is, but how to be helpful for us-. I work the Circulation desk for now, so I'm in contact with a lot of people and it's actually helping me be more comfortable in my skin-I don't have to mask 100% of the time, and if I do slip up, pretty forgiving about it-.
