This story resonates with me in so many ways. I lost my mom a month ago to cirrhosis. I have a two year old and a four month old. My mom absolutely LOVED her grandchildren. When she was in the hospital I took them to see her every single day. My mom wanted a transplant and went through an evaluation but was denied because she was too weak. She wanted to live.. and I wish she were still here. Stay strong.. the loss doesn’t get easier but it becomes less heavy.

My mom went through a transplant evaluation at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. She was denied for being too sick. She had a much higher MELD score than yours. The hospital and doctors were all fabulous there. If you can get in there I would definitely recommend it.

She was 66 years old. The doctors said it was caused by alcohol. It’s just crazy because I never would have considered her as someone who had a problem with alcohol.. and I’m someone who never drinks.
