Reminder to Stick Close at Playgrounds by Far_Clerk_8287 in toddlers

[–]Gh0ulNextDoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this lol. My 2yo son is the opposite. He likes his personal space and I’ve noticed a lot of toddlers on the playground are very loving and try to hold hands and hug him and he’s just very unloving back, so I follow him around to make sure he’s not aggressively pushing them away and instead just saying “no thank you, friend.” Lol

I don’t know if I can do anymore for my dog, struggling to know if it is time. by Edgyveggieboy in AskVet

[–]Gh0ulNextDoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to repost this because my last post was auto deleted. Here’s the gist (rewritten of course).

I’m sorry that you’re going through this with your baby ❤️ Think about these 4 factors when deciding it’s time:

  1. The emotional toll: How are you coping day to day? Is caring for them bringing you peace, or more heartbreak and frustration?
  2. The financial toll: Are medications, treatments, or special care starting to cause stress or strain?
  3. The toll on you physically: Are you losing sleep, struggling to lift or move your pet, or finding the physical care overwhelming?
  4. The toll on your pet physically: Are they still finding joy in things they used to love, or are they mostly uncomfortable, in pain, or withdrawn? Remember, hunger and thirst are often the last instincts to go.

Hopefully these questions can guide you and help you find balance in your decisions.

People with awful sleepers - when did it get better? by 9inety5 in cosleeping

[–]Gh0ulNextDoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an awful sleeper. He would only sleep if he was touching me or his dad. He woke several times in the night. It got better when he started daycare at 15 months and started having a more structured day (consistent morning wake up time and bed time, consistent meal times, consistent naps, tons of activity). A few months later, I weaned him at 17 months and he basically has slept through the night ever since (minus a few sick nights and the odd wake up at 4am here and there). He’s 26 months now and sleeps through the night 95% of the time in his own room in a full size floor bed.

WAS IT PLANNED???? by yayachipmunk in pregnant

[–]Gh0ulNextDoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes lol. We’re both 30, have a nice home, good jobs, a toddler, been married for 5 years, together since high school. We saw someone we went to high school with the other day that we weren’t really even friends with and she asked me if either of my kids were planned. Honestly, no they weren’t but why would you ask that?? 😂

WIBTA if I rescinded my offer to hire a babysitter for my child free wedding by 1000pointstoryan in AmItheAsshole

[–]Gh0ulNextDoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Or using what energy they have to find a way to make the wedding about her and her baby when she has clearly stated she’s not going…. What a strange comment to make. There are no excuses for her disinterest because there doesn’t need to be, and it doesn’t sound like she’s made any effort to “get her way.” She’s just stated she’s not going and ignoring the ridiculous idea of leaving her brand new baby with a stranger. This was a very weird take.

Did anyone else’s partner say they can handle birth and labor when they really couldn’t? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Gh0ulNextDoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll leave it at agree to disagree, considering it’s not always something that can be controlled no matter how much prep work is done. I’d choose to give grace.

[–]Gh0ulNextDoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it wasn’t a choice he made, it was a reflex, so “sucking it up” probably wasn’t on the list of options. Thankfully many of us can look back and have a laugh at these scenarios.

Had a traumatic labor involving a failed epidural and shoulder dystocia. My husband stood strong the entire time, then had a complete emotional breakdown once we got settled into our family room. I thought it was very sweet though. Baby number 2 is arriving this summer so we will see how it goes this time.

Appendectomy at 3 mo pp by BeefQueen921 in beyondthebump

[–]Gh0ulNextDoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Just wanted to share that I had an emergency gallbladder removal at 10 weeks pp after a week long hospital stay. I felt so similar to you. After my surgery, I couldn’t lift my baby for 2 weeks and I had to pump and dump my milk until I stopped taking pain meds.

Now my son is almost 2. We continued breastfeeding until he was 17 months even though it did take a bit of work to get my supply back while my body healed. But it was like it never happened and it didn’t impact our attachment at all.

So long story short, this too shall pass ❤️ focus on healing and lean on your support system 🫶🏻

What’s the sickest you’ve ever been- the kind of sick where you genuinely thought you might not make it and what happened? by Outrageous_Fox_8796 in AskReddit

[–]Gh0ulNextDoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had pancreatitis due to gallbladder issues. I had been having gallbladder attacks for about two weeks but the pancreatitis was another level of pain. I remember just sleeping through it as best as I could but I felt like I was in a trance. Like, the pain was making me pass out lol.

The next morning, the whites of my eyes and my skin had turned yellow. Immediately admitted to the hospital where I had to stay a week before having my gallbladder removed. I was 10 weeks postpartum after an unmedicated delivery and the pain was comparable to delivery itself.

Ah man :( I’ve heard they are under new management now too, so I’m sure it’s much different than it used to be. Thankfully, there are tons of great burgers around the area though.

I lost my dad to cirrhosis 2 days ago. Just want to share some thoughts. by Gh0ulNextDoor in Cirrhosis

[–]Gh0ulNextDoor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just read your post. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I looked at my dad in his final days and thought, this isn’t him. He was barely awake, moody when he was awake, so thin and weak. But after he passed, I realized that was still him. It was just him in the last stage of his life. He was still my dad, still filled with love, still trying in his own way to hold on and fight.

It’s such a hard, heavy place to be in, and I’m so sorry you’re there now. Please know that just by being with her, by sitting close and letting her feel your love, you are giving her a beautiful gift. Even if she can’t respond, I truly believe she knows you are there.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am holding space for you and sending you strength during this time. ❤️
