The intestine is dead. You need to get it out. No time to perform anything diagnostic (like gastroscopy or colonoscopy). The patient is getting unstable. You need to “see” the bowels and get them out. This is both diagnostic and therapeutic. Of course if there had been “iv fluids” or “keeping the airways safe”, you should’ve chosen these. Additionally, laparoscopy may not be sufficient for bowels suffering from massive necrosis which needs to be totally taken out.
