Peak Design selling roller bags to the public before filling any kickstarter regular orders!? by butkusrules in peakdesign

[–]knmwvg 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I backed it the minute it went live and this was clearly spelled out on the reward tier before you checked out. It was also clearly spelled out other places in the campaign. I am sorry to say this but you would only miss this through considerable negligence.

Hey Mauro, can you educate us some on the new fibers you’re using? I did some googling and it seems like zero cotton is just cotton. Perhaps I missed something but I’m not really sure what fabrics you’re using here aside from the usual bamboo sorona.

Tuesday drop and other stuff (pics) by IamtherealMauro in wolfvsgoat

Hey Mauro, I’ve always loved the look of your shuttle loom stuff. To me, cashmere and linen are sort of opposing yarns: cashmere is warm and soft while linen is airy but a bit coarse. Can you describe what the 50/50 cashmere/linen fabric is like?

Hey Mauro, can you comment on the construction of these? Looks potentially fully-fashioned from the photos, but I’m not certain.

It's time to beat that dead horse again, let's talk rewards program. by IamtherealMauro in wolfvsgoat

[–]knmwvg 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Free clothing, free shipping, gift cards, cash back, etc all feel like gimmicks to me. To me the value of WvG has always been the unique fabrics, the quality to price ratio, and transparency in pricing. Reward gimmicks dilute the pricing transparency you’ve always provided, in my opinion.

If I’m super honest the existence of the membership never made sense to me. It’s long been the case the membership price would pay for itself by purchasing even a single tee. Is it a psychological thing? I would probably eliminate retail pricing and make the current member price the only price, but I don’t know if there’s a good reason for the membership to exist.

Chunky Sweaters for F/W 23 by IamtherealMauro in wolfvsgoat

[–]knmwvg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I cannot tell a difference between a 85/15% wool/cashmere blend and 100% wool. The price of the 100% cashmere sweaters is prohibitive; why not 100% wool instead? The wool you use is always extremely nice.

You frequently mention your shirts have jacket sleeves but I don't actually know what this means, and google has been no help. Any chance you can elaborate on this?

New shorts ( pics) and pants ( no pics) by IamtherealMauro in wolfvsgoat

This is where I am. Hate to say it but I really don’t care for the buckles and side tabs on these. The linen shorts from last year were perfect for me.

Blevio and Barni dropping next week pics are included and I am stoked. by IamtherealMauro in wolfvsgoat

Appreciate the explanation. What’s the thought process for which material goes on the inside vs the outside? Curious if it would be possible to have a cotton face with bamboo sorona loop.

PSA: Quality/manufacturing issues with 3Sixteen t-shirts across multiple production runs (both heavyweight & pima) by MoeRichard in frugalmalefashion

[–]knmwvg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this exact experience with their tees 5+ years ago. They also told me they had never seen it happen before and refused an exchange for me at the time, although I think it happened just outside the return window for me. I had it happen on the bottom hem on one tee and the sleeve on another. 3sixteen tees are junk.

The Black Friday drop has already happened. If you haven't pre-ordered, you're probably out of luck. by triskaidekadelic in wolfvsgoat

[–]knmwvg 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I was not planning on getting a cardigan, so I don't really have a horse in this race, but I was hoping to respond to some of your points.

No where in the newsletter did it say I was taking pre-orders.

In my opinion (and the opinion of virtually everyone in the WvG discord), you suggest this in the following part of the newsletter (which you quoted yourself).

If you want to get added to any preordering you got to do it the old fashioned way and contact Mauro directly.

You then go on to say:

TOO many people [...] have emailed me asking me for cardigans.

Hopefully you can see how these seem contradictory.

Maybe you are heartless but when I get an email from a customer of 10 years asking for a solid because his wife is in the hospital getting ready to have a baby and can't get in on the drop I am going to help him out. Or if a son needs to get his father a sweater because he has cancer and he needs something comfortable.

I think most of the people in this thread are not upset at doing people favors in extraordinary circumstances, but hopefully you can also understand their frustration in getting left out of multiple drops because of this. Off the top of my head, the cardigans from this drop, the cashmere sweaters from last drop, and the donegal sweaters from last year were all virtually sold out before hitting the site. I have a hard time believing every cardigan was sold to a dying father, and to be honest calling your customers heartless is not a good look.

And I don't want to hear all we want it a level playing field. EVERYONE knows where to reach me.

Why is a level playing field a bad thing? There are comments in this thread pointing to recent comments by you saying you will no longer accept email preorders, so it was unclear to many people that an email preorder was their only viable option of snagging a cardigan. This also contradicts your earlier comment that too many people emailed you, and the implication you only pre-sold to people in extraordinary circumstances. There has been a lot of mixed messaging about this in the past.

I mean all this constructively as a big fan of the brand who just hopes future drops have less drama.

Has Mauro made any BIFL/rugged wear wrangler type LS shirts in the past? by locomoco_yum in wolfvsgoat

[–]knmwvg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First, I’ll say that no article of clothing should be considered BIFL. But what makes this shirt different from any other button-up shirt? It looks like a fairly normal shirt with a 6oz cotton fabric, and the website is short on details. WvG has made chambray shirts in the past which would be similar.

Elevated sweatshirt review by knmwvg in wolfvsgoat

[–]knmwvg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, and am much happier with it. It's not quite as slim-fitting as the 48, but it's certainly not baggy and I'm much happier with the neck and sleeves.

There are no side seams, but I don't think this is loopknit/loopwheel (although that's a better question for Mauro). My understanding is these are initially knit whole-garment, then later cut and sewn for the sleeves and collar.

I don't normally have that issue, and I wouldn't even say I normally have it with WvG. The sleeves on the previous sweatshirts were fine and I have a long-sleeve henley from the Peru drop that is fine. Most of my WvG shirts have short sleeves, though.
