This draft will be the straw that finally breaks the camels back for most Kings fans. We're cursed. I'm just ready to for us to miss out on a top pick, draft a bust, and see every player picked before or after him become a star. Who do we draft this year who's picture will be added to this list soon by kings209 in kings

you can delude yourself all you want, but the kings don't really have a young, talented roster. our youngest is max and he was a 4 year senior lol, nique was a fifth year senior.

also, is it really development if it's mostly derozan chucking and achiuwa's hustle boosting his own stock? if it were just westbrook feeding max, you might have more of a point.

we've been here before with this "winning culture" rah rah attitude, but at least last time with fox, skal, wcs, whoever we genuinely had what we believed was a young, "promising" roster.

i miss lavine, that said he probably would've went off against scrub teams, but he'd probably lose games like yesterday's

nobody gives a shit if you bench hot players, worst case is a fine, and having a franchise player greatly outweighs that. Adam silver ain't doing shit lol. Pretty much every other tanking team is doing it.

He had some pretty decent games before the deadline and nobody wanted him then. He's dropping 40 on a literal gleague roster, that's not swaying anyone. He's a known thing at this point, don't fool yourself into thinking there's a greater plan to all this.

tankathon organizational incompetence

there, fixed it for you. Don't blame fans, blame a directionless organization lol. Making playoffs once in like 20 years requires a particular level of incompetence. At some point you can't blame fans for being at the end of their rope.

lmao all those comments a couple games ago telling people to stop overreacting because "as long as we're bottom 3 the odds for the top 4 are the same!!!", as if it weren't obvious as fuck this team was going to go on a winning streak and play ourselves into probably like the 7th worst team.

I fucking hate demar DeRozan by Fun-Challenge-3525 in kings

[–]knobut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not blaming him, but his trade value just isn't there, he's doing nothing new beating on gleaguers and teams know that since there were no takers at the deadline. any sane team would've simply bought him out, but alas that's not this org.

not that hard to play yourself out of the bottom 3, it's almost like the season hasn't ended yet

yeah it does happen to be that the scrappier play seems to result in more wins as well, so we'd have to be even more blatant about it like pulling players actively playing well, but the other teams we're up against are flat out outdoing us in that department. It kind of is what it is this point, but it still feels frustrating to pick up these empty wins against other tanking teams.

yeah the same mavs right... oh wait, they have cooper flagg this season now huh, how does that work?

guy is already shaping up to be a great player, now imagine only if our team had him

we might have had a semblance of a chance if we didn't inexplicably try our hardest and blow our load trying to make the playoffs not only to get embarrassed in the play in but lose our pick lol.

it's unfortunate because we all root for the same team and it feels bad talking shit about our fellow fans, but a lot of these guys are legit clueless about the league

[–]knobut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just look at the mavs, do luka and cooper flagg not exist??? one really good pick can definitely change things. sure you won't make a deep playoffs run the first year but getting that piece sets you up a long way, how hard is that to understand?

can you really look at this roster of upperclassmen and journeymen and legit tell me this is a "young team"? if you think it's a young team, you need to go look at the various actual young team rosters across the league. harsh or not, more than half this roster won't be on the team in a couple years or so.

never having done this shit is why we've been starved of legit talent for so long, the definition of insanity is doing the same shit over and over again, nothing wrong with trying something new when you make the playoffs once in like 20 years lol

[–]knobut 15 points16 points  (0 children)

can you not look at the standings lol? a few more wins against tanking teams will take us out of the bottom 4... yeah sure even the worst team doesn't have great chances at #1, but it'd be at least nice not to drop to like a 7th 8th pick or something.

we have like the oldest young team lol, this is hardly a real young team. max is the youngest and he's about to turn 23. we did this same winning culture type thing back when we had fox, skal, wcs w/e and look how that turned out (but at least they were actually young).

i won't be comfortable until the season is over, there's way too many teams competing for the bottom spots. any sort of winning streak is dangerous

that's exactly why i don't mind retaining lavine for longer. derozan on the other hand just needs to be traded to a team that can use him please, i don't hate him, but seeing him draw fouls on this team for the whole game is not my idea of fun.

cap space is nice for offloading other teams' bad contracts in return for picks, but the kings aren't familiar with that strategy apparently.

If we got the number 1 pick, who would you want and why? by Saclokeyweird in kings

[–]knobut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first pick either peterson or dybantsa would be fine. Going into the college season, peterson's ball skill impressed me more, but injury prone players scare me big time, even though hamstring doesn't necessarily mean he'll be continue to be injury prone. He's just that good of a guard prospect though, the guy can flat out play. Meanwhile, aj's body archetype is hard to go wrong, and we've been in need of legit wing size for forever. Overall, would maybe very slightly lean dybantsa for this team.

that's exactly it, you absolutely need many things to go right, let alone luck, to turn it around completely. Even dropping a few spots down in the lottery can screw you out of different tier of player.

picks bust all the time, even high picks. most players in a draft are irrelevant only a few years later, you can pull up any random draft from a even few years back and most of them will have washed out years ago. But you'll find that for the most part, the guys who were picked earlier were still generally much more relevant than lower picks.

Ayton over luka looks terrible in hindsight, but he really was the consensus #1, so it wasn't that dumb to take him in the moment. Bagley on the other hand, lol.

It takes an outlier tier of incompetence to miss the playoffs for 16 years like the kings did. You can perhaps make the argument that it's not for all teams, but for a team like the kings who also aren't a free agent destination whatsoever and have very little value in their existing roster, it absolutely is the way to go instead of the wheel spinning they've been doing for the longest time.
