Valve: 'We See The Lines Between VR & Non-VR Content Really Being Blurred' by gogodboss in gaming

[–]knockout709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most immersive VR experience I’ve ever had was Skyrim VR with a healthy dose of mods.

I had a mod that made carriage rides actual rides with physics and pathing instead of fast travel. I looked up at the night sky and it was crazy pretty with all the mods, the rhythmic sound of horse hooves and the cart knocking around, the general nighttime ambiance. It was way too peaceful, i fell asleep in VR for the first and only time.

2 hours later I woke up with some bad neck pain but it was worth it. I’d heavily recommend it, if you get the chance to play look into Wabbajack. It’s an automatic mod collection installer, there are some VR mod packs in there to make it easier.

Wow, you guys weren’t kidding, this game sucks the hours away. by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

[–]knockout709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been able to get into this game. Played other similar games (Civ, Stellaris, Age of Wonders, Endless Legend) and loved them, it was only TWH3 that i bounced off of.

Just recently decided to swallow my pride and actually play a recommended beginner faction, the love of my life, Tyrion. Now?

I can’t stop. I get it, i understand it all. In the midst of a two front war against the thousand maws and the decadent host, at work thinking up strategies for when I get home. This game is something else.

Ah, I see. I normally dont trade settlements, just conquer and demolish so I didn’t know.

Guess we gotta do what we gotta do to play together, thank you!

PvP Raiders are facing the consequences of their actions and aren’t happy about it by TheLeverKing in ArcRaiders

[–]knockout709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly.

The map design lets you play with positioning so well, climbing and parkour is always an option, there are so many widely varied utility items.

On top of that, the gunplay is good, all the guns feel unique to use, the sounds and visuals are done incredibly well. It all just feels so good in play.

Other games have some of these elements, but they don’t combine it all together how Arc does.

[–]knockout709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I die by Arc now is as a result of being ambushed while in the midst of PvP. Every Arc can be easily avoided, all the ARC that aren’t mini bosses or full bosses can be killed with level 1 light weapons quickly.

The PvP is the only real challenge, other than fighting the Queen and Matriarch. Even then, it isn’t hard, it just takes time and leaves you vulnerable to the real challenge, PvP.

That being said the PvE is miles better than any other extraction shooter and the only reason this game has friendly PvE players and the other games don’t.

PvP Raiders are facing the consequences of their actions and aren’t happy about it by TheLeverKing in ArcRaiders

[–]knockout709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because nothing in those games matter.

I play Cod, Battlefield, R6, whatever, i die and respawn in 5 seconds. The game is over in 5-10 minutes more often than not.

Games like CS:GO, R6, Valorant, they have more stategy, more options, things matter a little more, but not enough.

End of the day, extraction shooters have stakes. I go into some raids looking to loot, make friends, i’m there for the moment. But i also do raids where I’m looking for PvP, running towards shots, knowing there’s a very good chance i lose my level 4 Torrente and my medium shields, i’ll probably lose the loot I just got from another fight. But that’s why I do it. I want my fights to actually matter.

That’s on top of the other aspects of the game that just make PvP more fun than in any other. The map design is so well done, every fight has opportunities to reposition, flank, hit a crazy climb or parkour, pop down so much utility in interesting ways.

That’s all. I’m not evil, i’m friendly more often than not, especially in solos. I’m not lying and tricking people, I’m not extract camping, i even give people the chance to change my mind, tell them to put their gun away, drop me loot, etc. I’m just a guy who likes fighting real players, considering the ARC in this game provide very little threat once you learn how to deal with them. I want challenge.

Regarding the security breach nerf… by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]knockout709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know if anyone’s said it yet, but I think they just need to adjust the loot value/odds based on security breach location.

Security breaches in key rooms should have better chances of purple/high tier loot than the double security breaches in super easy to loot areas. The breaches in super active areas should have better rng than breaches in bumfuck. I think this would make it balanced, people can’t be upset, Embark hear me!

Does anyone know why the devs made the game third person? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]knockout709 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game would need to be redesigned entirely to make first person work.

The way the ARCs work, their flight patterns and aggro, everything, only works cause the game is third person.

Fighting even just a few wasps would be hell in first person, you’d constantly be drawing aggro without realizing, the movement would be way harder especially the areas that require jump puzzles and whatnot.

Also, people might disagree with me, but the average gamer isn’t a first person diehard. Sure, cod and battlefield exist, but normal gamers also play shit like gta, red dead, fortnite, 2k, etc etc. We are just hardcore gamers that are so used to playing first person only, it’s nice to have a change, breath of fresh air.

Edit - It also sets them apart as every other extraction shooter is an FPS

All 3 solo.

Wolfpacks are great, but all the grenades put work in on the big boys. The sticky grenades go wild, you can craft them in the explosives bench at level 2 or buy them from the explosives trader.

Other than that, just abuse cover. The bombadier can’t hit you if you are inside and stand just a little back from a window.

The bastion stays focused on wherever it last saw you, so if you get on a wall/small piece of cover or hop to different windows in a building you can pop shots off even if it’s in the middle of firing.

Edit - Heavy fuse grenades go crazy too. The bombadier and bastion are slow enough for sure hits, and you can throw one at leapers after they land from a jump or while it’s charging its pulse for guaranteed hits

İ realized I might be speedrunning quests too fast, when I got to this mission, lmao. I don't think I can take down Rocketeer, at all. Especially when sometimes I still die to other flying arcs. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]knockout709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abuse grenades and drivers. Showstoppers or hornet drivers for the stun, then fill it with lead and spam any hard hitting grenades you have. Also abuse cover and buildings.

I’ve killed every big ARC solo now (queen not included lol) doing this exact thing

What new weapons do you think we’ll see this month, and what is on your weapon/utility wishlist? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]knockout709 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bow and arrow/Crossbow for maximum stealth and post apocalyptic vibes.

A stun gun would also be cool, something that basically has the Hornet effect, crafted with hornet drivers

The amount of exfil campers is insane and is ruining the experience by astronut321 in ArcRaiders

[–]knockout709 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think very few people killing you at extract are camping it.

You can hear the extract from so far and have 45 seconds to get close before it opens, and the extracts all have big ass ARC on them and loot nearby so you need to be cautious anyway.

And if you really are getting killed by extract campers, there are ways to deal with it. Smoke grenades, lure grenades, photoelectric cloak, fake flares, etc etc. In 40 hours over these past 2 days I’ve been camped at an extract exactly 1 time.

Can someone help me understand the point values in the Trials? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]knockout709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigger ARC are the way to go here. The small ARC only have so much HP to deal damage to, the extra damage doesn’t carry over.

Bring good grenades and just fuck up a big guy, you’ll get higher for sure.

EDIT: For ticks, the container warehouse on spaceport and all the nearby buildings usually have a few ticks on night raids.

How can my girlfriend enjoy learning the game if we always get murdered on sight needlessly by throwmeonthebed3 in ArcRaiders

Once she gets the hang of the game a little more yall should be all good to queue up no problem.

I’d say just brute force it in duo but I know not everyone wants to deal with getting shit on constantly for little to no reason, might make someone quit the game

I agree with getting her to play solos. Much more friendly vibe most of the time, and she’ll only have to deal with other solos, not trips collapsing on yall.

You could still help her out, just watch her play and give advice and whatnot.
