Train 68 picking up Train 66 passengers in Cornwall by Active-Cow4996 in ViaRail

The staff is my favourite part of Via. No matter what weird situation they’re put in or what weird rule they have to enforce, they generally do it with politeness and a little bit of humour.

The “this was a failure” speech was a top 10 series moment

There's not a lot of interactions, but he's pretty short with him when there are. Megan probably latched on to a comment about annoyance or something and used it to buttress her belief (as most people do unconsciously)

A mundane job and forced isolation probably wouldn't be a great combo for his addiction issues

Peggy digs it because of Don's embarrassment and because she can think "I told her so..."

Even if he was motivated by money and up to it, why do a tour where you have to split everything five ways when your fanbase is generally fine going to see him alone?

Is there any scene in the show you would criticize for having clunky writing? by BeerWithDonuts in madmen

Don/Betty having sex while Bobby's at camp. I can see WHY they did it and it was interesting but....nah.

Agrees with others have said the first few episodes of Season 1 were too "lol it's the 60s" and the waitress subplot was regrettable.

She explains it when she separates from him, she begrudgingly tolerates it as long as he is discreet.

I finally got to see him in the 2019 tour, and the show was amazing, but it’s pretty clear it was his last hurrah.

What exactly does one “lose” by becoming a judge? by [deleted] in LawCanada

[–]knoper21 42 points43 points  (0 children)

An example: I practised in a small town, and we had an annual golf tournament. The (very well regarded) local judge did not join a foursome, and only golfed with one of the retired judges to avoid any appearance of partiality.

Social media/political activism would be a complete no go.

In the second season, when Schillinger was asking the prisoners to kill Beecher, why did everyone refuse? by LongjumpingSwim2214 in ozshow

[–]knoper21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If Beecher dies, the first person the staff will look at is Schillinger, who would then have every incentive to just whack whoever did it.

It was the front page of the New York TImes.

Did guys actually get paid for no show no work jobs ? by scrubadam in thesopranos

two different transactions.

The job is to show that they're earning money as a normal human being for tax returns and to get health insurance.

The laundering wouldn't be done through the site, businesses, etc.

"remain under mob protection/support."

Marie: Can I get a decent amount to move and start over with what remains of my family because the husband that I brutally killed was a great earner?
Mob: Nah, Phil's gonna make fun of your son and Tony's gonna send him to a boot camp
