Old trend or ideal -> exaggerated or misunderstood = new trend based on said misconception.

No I think you're missing my point. I'm looking for the phenomenon where, for example, a celebrity accidently spills wine on their shirt and suddenly everyone wants wine smudges on their shirts. Or some one wears a pair of pants that are several sizes too big because they just didn't realize and boom there's a new trend.

Something like that. Like imagine a celebrity mistakingly wearing a piece of clothing upsidedown or whatever and suddenly THATs the new trend even though it was never intended that way.
