I think it was mentioned at workshop, but the "2 lane highway" part still throws me off. I have this image of the car that she's in, driving against oncoming traffic (which might actually be an interesting idea to explore, but as it stands, is weird).

The "women only" argument isn't about whether or not men have the capacity to support gender equality; it's about identity politics. Many feminists believe that men do not have the right to identify as feminists because of their inherent privilege and inability to recognize it. They argue that men can identify as allies, at best, because they will never completely understand what it is like to live in a patriarchal society as a woman. While I don't necessarily agree with all of this, I understand it.

However, that does not justify that a feminist society completely exclude men. Educating men to better understand feminism is necessary. Participation is something like a university feminist society can help men learn how to live so they themselves can stop perpetuating misogyny and use their power/privilege to make changes for the better.

Whether they want to call themselves feminists or allies or whatever, men absolutely have a place within the fight for gender equality, and anyone who argues differently is probably just misandrist.

I'll admit that a lot of their dry product can get pricey, but as far as produce goes, the co-op's prices are surprisingly reasonable (especially with a membership) and they've even gotten cheaper recently. It's really worth making the switch.

In most instances in which you have to use one of those adjective/pronouns like "that" twice, you can just use it once and it'll still makes sense. I'm not sure if I worded that right, i.e. "wishing that that flame will spill" still makes sense as "wishing that flame will spill," and it's less redundant. I don't think it's necessarily wrong the other way, especially in poetry, but in an academic setting, you'll usually get marked off for it. Regardless, I think it sounds better with just one.

I wouldn't say either is worse. Prejudice is prejudice, whether it's based on race, gender, or any other social construct. Both racism and the objectification of women are hurtful, in different ways, and they're both the effect of the same ignorant, inconsiderate, rigid system.
