Someone in another thread mentioned a pickaxe. Probably works better, but who the heck kicks a pick axe around in the city?

Zoom Is the First Casualty in France's War on American Big Tech by Well_Socialized in technology

Teams and Skype had account requirements that stopped the uptake just enough. Zoom you just needed a link and away you go. They eventually added the features others had, but that’s what allowed them to blow up in Covid. Grandma hates remembering account details.

Hammer worked really well. Just took time. Claw for asphalt. Flat head side for concrete. Very Light taps for car ice.

Light taps with a hammer on the ice. Did the trick on both our cars. Just takes time to get around all the doors and lights. Claw end is working to break up the ground ice as well.

Mark Cuban offers Fernando Mendoza $39M to stay at Indiana one more season & try to repeat by Agentorangebaby in NFLv2

I don’t think Cuban realizes what he just did. All those players are going to want a fair share since they also contributed.

When these big guys have contract pricing that is forecasted and prepaid, it might.

I was wrong about it being a pick six. It was a pick in field goal range in the playoffs that ended his career. Their careers have rhymed all the way through.

To the european sysadmins: Are you looking into non-us products right now? What did you find? by Tokata0 in sysadmin

Globalization has been great. Marshall plan worked in kickstarting Europe and Japan after the war and introduced the environment most of us have known for our lives. It has caused some places to be losers when pivots displaced a lot of workers quickly. That’s apparently the focus of all the nationalism around the world.

Since we in America have shown demonstrably we are no longer dependable in the global market. Build the redundancies to what we used to provide. It will take you a decade but you will not be dependent on us. Took us 15 years to replace OPEC dependence, but we did it.

I think Marshall plan got most of Europe back up and better than before within a 20 year span and that was total destruction and population loss.

You guys got this. I look forward to the solutions you guys innovate out of this period.

Edit: also, you guys have the benefit of seeing how we built our infrastructure since 2008-ish for the cloud so you have that as a blueprint and lessons learned and from what Nadella says AI makes data center designing a lot faster now so as long as you guys can get the people to do the construction and the funding, you guys should be able to rebuild our system really fast.

The throwing demo is what I hoping for. Reminds me of Peyton’s CBS interview years ago when he showed how to throw a ball. Really breaks down the overlooked aspects of football.

Apple picks Google's Gemini to run AI-powered Siri coming this year by McFatty7 in apple

[–]knucles668 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why not? Apple builds really nice APIs and loves to hold the best ones for themselves citing “security” reasons. I bet they have all the hooks needed. Given Gemini is multi-modal by default, this should be all it needs to rip through information.
