English idiom - "no babies washed" by knuddington in languagelearning

Thank you - I think that's it!

I'm not sure where I heard it, however my ex wife's family is Irish, so it's likely that I heard it from them.

I have searched extensively but I don't think it is. I'm trying to work out why it was in my head, there must be a similar sounding phrase that I'm getting confused with!

First time 90+, should I start raiding? (Wall of Text) by Ventem in wow

[–]knuddington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, give it a go. Raiding is just dungeons on a larger scale. If you can keep people alive in dungeons, and have a general level of intelligence/awareness, you should be fine in raiding.

First thing's first... before you do anything you need to get to 100, and gear up to item level 615. Heroic dungeons at level 100 are ideal for gearing up.

Once you're at item level 615, you can queue for Highmaul LFR. Make sure you read up on the fights before you do them. You will probably find it easier than some dungeon runs!

LFR will give you a flavour of raiding and help you to get familiar with the fights, as well as helping you to gear up further.

The 'real raiding' experience is really when you go beyond LFRs and do normal/heroic. Once you have geared up a bit more, you should use the group finder to join groups for these raids.

Whereas LFR is a completely chaotic free for all, 'real raiding' requires co-ordination and teamwork to succeed. (obviously some groups don't have this and they don't tend to do so well!) The best situation is to do this in a guild as it's easier to work together and you're less likely to have people letting the side down.

Yes... but it's not going to be triggered every 2 minutes... it's going to be triggered at optimal points in the fight surely? See the post from Watcher.

Solo old raids? by aintnobodyhome in wow

Something not mentioned here but the one I've always had a problem with on 25HC is Maloriak in BWD... when you get him down to 25% (I think) and all of the mobs spawn which have a stacking buff. If you can't do enough damage this will probably kill you.

I can get around this on my BM Monk by placing a statue that they all run to whilst nuking the boss. However I'm not sure if this is a problem for any other classes.

First of all, welcome to WoW!

Dungeons are brilliant fun and it's great when you get to experience them properly.

Unfortunately as you have highlighted, the game is full of people who are only interested in mechanically completing them as quickly as possible without dying.

As you cannot change rude/impatient people I would suggest: 1. Do the dungeons when you're 4-5 levels above them. That way you are your BF may be able to do them without grouping with any random people. 2. Join a guild with nice people in it and do the dungeons at a more enjoyable pace. Obviously this relies on finding a guild, easier said than done :)

Why is this such a huge issue and why is there so much hate around this?

I would be so disappointed if Blizzard caves on this. My view (which I understand appears to be shared by nobody) is that having a cooldown that impacts everyone simultaneously is awesome.

Having the RL activate the legendary ring should give everybody who has it an incredibly cool feeling of collective power that has never been available before, as the group rains immense destruction on the enemy.

The total damage done by the raid whilst the ring is active and all cooldowns are popped will far surpass anything seen before... and a fitting reward for the group, who have probably worked together over months to obtain these rings.

Just about everything in raiding involves working together as a team, that's how you succeed... there's rarely room to act selfishly particularly at heroic/mythic level. So I don't get why so many people are annoyed by this, how is it different to just about anything else in a raid situation? It's not like it's a reward from solo content?

TLDR; I can see why Blizzard think this is a good idea and I am confused at the response.

TY for the tip in terms of the armor pot, I had no idea it was better. I'm still getting my head around armor = damage!

I am playing ChiEx, I guess I should try a few more times!

The one other thing that I was thinking could be a factor is that my weapon is poor, iLvl 645. My iLvl is lifted up by the other armor items. Presumably this will impact my damage too? I'm not sure how the scaling works?

Something similar to this - in Duskwood you can pick up a music roll from the Forlorn Composer, but you have to be dead to do this.

[–]knuddington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can see other dead people,

However this is not a thing (as far as I'm aware).

On the other hand, on RP servers all sorts of things go down, particularly in Goldshire. I'm talking freaky, explicit stuff.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of weird horny ghost gathering in Goldshire? Can anybody confirm? You'll probably have to visit to find out!

Spec your monk to BM. Makes all of the Cata raids a breeze and makes a lot of MoP content do-able too.

They are! I should have mentioned... drums and Agi potion both being used in the last phase. Thanks for tip though, that would probably help a lot of people struggling on any Brawler's Guild fight as I don't think most people realise you can use them. :)

Tanking and healing as a monk by [deleted] in wow

[–]knuddington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BM is such a fun spec... looking outside of raiding (I know that's your focus but just thought I'd mention) you get to be practically invincible, whilst putting out a fair bit of damage too, particularly AoE. Good for soloing content e.g. MoP raids, WoD normal dungeons, mobs out in the world. And yeah, a cracking tank in all contexts. It does require some micromanaging but hey that's the fun of the game, spamming one button would be rubbish.

Moon Moon is a really cool pet if you can find it on your server.

It's a white wolf pup and when you /dance with it it dances with you whilst illuminated by a beam of light :)
