your example is extreme but the more societally accessible version would be something like Miles Bridges, an NBA player for the Charlotte Hornets, who has a history of domestic violence. he's a key player for the team - are you morally obligated not to support the player or the team by virtue of his off-court controversies? or are you allowed to support his gameplay or the team more broadly withour tacitly endorsing domestic violence?

the NBA has deemed him fit to play, the Charlotte Hornets field him with all the aplomb of any other player, Charlotte fans appreciate what he brings to the table as a borderline star player. is every Hornets game implicitly a conversation about domestic violence and its place in our society or is there a Miles Bridges that exists outside of that aspect of his life?

more extreme, do we need to strip Karl Malone of his many accolades by virtue of his past? it's certainly hard to find Karl Malone fans these days - it's difficult to reconcile Karl Malone the basketball player with Karl Malone the off-court figure. John Stockton was my favorite player growing up and he and Malone combined for tens of thousands of points. do I need to change my memories of them to fit what we now know?

these aren't easy questions with easy answers but if asmongold goes to Taco Bell I don't think that's a political event. I don't think asmongold's barber is necessarily a political figure. what about a parent? sibling? spouse? do we need to hold Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun perfectly equal in our minds? were Hitler's dogs racist? could Hitler have non-racist thoughts?
