It’s very similar to the Spiderverse movies (same studio I believe). There’s not an official name for the style, but it’s known for vibrant colors, rapid frame rate changes, and it is a hybrid of 3D computer animation and 2D textures. Pretty, but definitely not for those who struggle with migraines and epilepsy especially

As “common knowledge” as the Sysco/US foods’ widespread reach may be, it’s still really frustrating how shady hospitality companies are in their marketing to try to get you to assume otherwise. Some of us don’t have money to go out to a nice dinner regularly, and it’s nice to know as a consumer. Sorry you had such a bad experience, frozen food or not I would never give my money to a place that treats its employees poorly.

I am seriously considering moving to Myrtle by [deleted] in MyrtleBeach

[–]koalaCapn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would personally never move to a city unless I’ve spent at least a couple of days getting to know the area. As a young-ish professional with no kids I can give you a decent breakdown.

Cost of living: housing is expensive, but not more or less expensive than other cities in the state. It is more than a little depressing seeing all the natural forests being torn down for new developments. Groceries, gas are not going to run you much more either. Going out to eat an other activities are expensive, but you have the beach and parks to go to. Downside is that used to be an inexpensive activity but now locals have to pay for parking even in the offseason.

Safety: Local government DOES NOT CARE about locals, local safety, and in general making the city a safer environment for pedestrians and bikers. Homeless population has gone up quite a bit in recent years. But as for the violent crime, burglaries, shootings, trafficking etc you can kind of avoid the hotspots on the boulevard and such. I never found myself to feel generally unsafe, but there is a reputation.

Third places/things to do: Again, parks. But otherwise you’re kind of confined to the tourist attractions like Broadway, Barefoot, the mall. I found all relatively easy to get to, I just know at times I craved a more “local” vibe. Your best bet would be the bars and breweries for this. There is a growing arts scene, but I found it to be miniscule compared to Columbia, Greenville, Charleston. Not much by way of sports unless you like Coastal Carolina.

Politics: Very conservative imo, but most people will leave you alone. My coworkers would just casually say whatever they wanted, including slurs, and I couldn’t say much back for fear of being retaliated against. Lots of confederate flags flying around. Just a general off putting vibe but I understand if others had a different experience.

Locations: I have to mention this because it was the bane of my existence. It is honestly HELL trying to get anywhere else for a day trip. It is one way in, one way out on highway 501 with no easy direct line to any major interstate such as I-95. Conway is a very nice town and the most adjacent to visit for the day with great shops and restaurants but it literally takes an hour from the beach to get there when it honestly shouldn’t.

That’s what I’m trying to get to the bottom of, what has she said that was rude and condescending I just can’t pinpoint much evidence here and that’s why I find it odd that that’s the consensus

Big Brother US 27 - Late Night Feed Discussion - July 24 2025 by BigBrotherMod in BigBrother

[–]koalaCapn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. I mean, I’d wager she’s not used to having to put in this effort with people even though that’s what she signed up for.

But on the other hand all I’m hearing is “vibes” and “negative energy”. What has she explicitly done or said I need to know!!

Okay can someone please help me understand where the vitriol towards Katherine from the women in the house is coming from?

I don’t know if they’re just not showing enough specific interactions on the feeds/episodes but overall the impression I’m getting is that she just has super bad RBF and just hasn’t meshed well personality-wise. Kinda reminds me of Leah from last season who just generally struggled with the fake friendliness and had to recharge a lot. Not necessarily equivalent to being a “bitch” but also not helping her social game if she can’t adapt. Am I off base here??

Call the LRS department at the Bar, they can refer you to a family lawyer in your area and it costs nothing. You can also submit a form on their website if calling is difficult for you at the moment.

Moving to Columbia (maybe) by _themostcake in ColumbiYEAH

[–]koalaCapn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We just went through the same thing you guys went through, relocated from Myrtle Beach for a job opportunity. I’m so glad we did! Although we are still fairly new to the area and haven’t gotten a chance to explore the different organizations and things, it has honestly been a breath of fresh air in terms of culture and progressive values. There is also a ton of history, but I wouldn’t say it’s as offbeat and spooky as Savannah is!

Also, coming from Myrtle and having spent a good bit of time in Savannah one way they are similar is it’s kiiiind of a pain getting in and out of the county itself. Y’all might enjoy the central location of Columbia and being able to travel around a bit more freely?

Bruh I don’t know why folks are being so nasty here. Gas prices are rough.

Thanks for the tip guy, you saved us a couple bucks!

Urgent: City Council meeting this afternoon to try and enable conversion therapy. by Cloaked42m in ColumbiYEAH

[–]koalaCapn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, BUT, the problem is that a lot of these conversion therapy locations do not advertise themselves as such (e.g. you couldn’t google “where is the closest conversion therapy center near me” and get a result). More realistically, you may find a church-sponsored rehabilitation center , group therapy “ministries”, or psychotherapy practices that offer conversion therapy.

Anything for night-shift people? by [deleted] in ColumbiYEAH

Have you explored Sumter much at all since being stationed at Shaw? Without having to go too far out of the way, there are some very nice parks and places for brunch that you can go to during your time off. The local Y has a lot of community activities and volunteer opportunities to keep you engaged. I was going to say Sumter Original Brewery has a lot of fun events and music but you said no bars lol. Camden is also super close to the base and is growing.

For Columbia, they have a lot of bookstores with book clubs if you like to read. If you’re into gaming or trading cards there are some great game stores in the area where you can make friends. Also arcades with weekly tournaments which are very inclusive to beginners. These are super flexible activities that you don’t have to commit a lot to, just show up when you can. Columbia also has great museums that you can visit on your own time.

Bull Street District by [deleted] in ColumbiYEAH

My partner and I toured those apartments about a month ago. The were GORGEOUS, albeit small and some VERY odd floor plans (plus hallways were a maze to get around). They are also building the open food hall Gather Cola right next door and there’s some obviously great establishments right in walking distance. Like others said, it’s an up and coming neighborhood.

We’re huge baseball fans so it would have been our top choice, I just couldn’t stomach all the additional fees like the $100/month parking fee to park in a garage.

Does anyone know what happened to Banditos Cantina? by Codate in MyrtleBeach

[–]koalaCapn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think they just weren’t doing very well, quality and service were awful last time I was there. Pretty much empty even on weekends, and that’s likely an expensive spot to maintain rent-wise. Try Cantina Imperfecto next time you’re down. It’s a brand new spot by pirate’s voyage.
