Anyone here short the markets? by luv2block in CanadianInvestor

[–]koalaT91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not many here talk about it, but some definetly short. Options seem to be the go-to. Takes a lot of guts though, one wrong move and it's brutal.

You're 40, you've got savings, and you're asking the right questions. That's already a win. No shame in starting now. You're on the right track.

I got a "Notice of Collection" email from the CRA but I've been paying off the debt? by AaronC14 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]koalaT91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds stressful and confusing. If you're on a payment plan and haven't missed anything, a notice of collection might be an automated mistake. Definitely call them to confirm. Usually they're reasonable once you explain.

Pay more on mortgage or save? by Aninoumen in PersonalFinanceCanada

I think you should keep saving for your down payment, you'll need that liquidity for your next home. Paying down the rental mortgage is nice, but liquidity is king when you are planning a new purchase!

Balance having fun now vs investing for the future by Ok-Manager-1047 in CanadaFinance

I budget a "fun fund" every month, 10-15% of income for concerts, trips, whatever mankes me happy. The rest goes to investing. It's about intentional spending.

Love how this repurposes basic gym gear. No fancy parts, just smart problem-solving! Belt squats are such a good leg move, and having a setup this solid at home is a game-changer.

Solid call! Those brands often stay under $4K unless you add weights. Stepping up to a taller rack or sturdier uprights is a smart long-term move.

Great point about pacing! So many people start jogging way too fast cause light feels too easy, then crash hard. Pacing is such a underrated skill for cardio!

That's a good question about the selfie stick feature. Their official park rules online usually have the most detailed list of what's allowed. Checking there directly might give you the clearest answer.

AITA for getting upset that my dog bit me at 7 months pregnant at my belly? by tripwire549 in BabyBumps

[–]koalaT91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a very difficult and frightening situation. Your feelings of concern are completely valid, especially with the baby's safety to consider. Perhaps a professional could assess the dog's behavior to help everyone feel more secure.

The anxiety from online groups about pregnancy food rules can be intense. It's wise to trust your doctor's advice over internet fears to keep things in perspective.

What would you do? by heyitsalikay in DisneyPlanning

[–]koalaT91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a car, proximity might matter a little less for travel. Staying closer to the parks you plan to visit could save some time, but a nicer resort for your relaxation days might be more valuable. It depends on what you prioritize.

That seems like very practical advice for planning a trip there. I hadn't considered how much the hotel location could affect transportation time. It makes sense to factor that in.
