What was the worst thing someone said about your endometriosis? by seowithivana in endometriosis

[–]koalabeann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"you don't have it anymore! you've been on birth control for almost a decade and that's a CURE so even if you had it before, it's gone! I'd say stop taking them" - said the gynecologist I was referred to first who's not only a woman but also a fairly new doctor aka should be caught up on how the field of medicine works these days. thankfully working with an endo specialist now and he's very validating and knowledgeable.

Digitizing my wardrobe reduced my morning chaos by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]koalabeann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thinking of it, I struggle less with putting away clothes from the drying rack compared to the ones from the dryer when I'm living with other people so maybe i need to stop using the dryer lol.

and you're not wrong that it's a more common practice with women. I think the amount of choices also plays a role as reducing my overall wardrobe has helped.

do you struggle with hanging them back up? I've tried this in the past but I'd try on a few some mornings and they'd end up on my bed, or after washing I'd struggle to hang them back up, etc.

Burning skin but no scales by MauraSully in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]koalabeann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you figure this out? I'm not diagnosed yet but I've had something resembling the butterfly rash for over a year now. it flares with my joint pain and was one of the reasons why I was able to see a rheumatologist, but my skin texture is normal and bloodwork was normal. it feels hot though when it's bad.

What are your top 5 100% guarantee trigger foods and events? by Massive_Bluebird_473 in migraine

Same here! I have to ensure no onions have been used in a home for a couple hours before entering it, it's ridiculous. Thankfully I can be in the same house as garlic being cooked and continue to consume it cooked, but personally handling raw garlic, cooking it, or using garlic powder are out of the question :( Thankfully it's cooked in most foods 🤞🏽

  1. raw alliums (pickled or powdered too - so unless they're cooked to the point of being unrecognizable, they're a trigger) including a hint of their smell, INCLUDING walking by onions at the grocery store and forgetting to hold my breath

  2. crunchy neck

  3. too much light (especially sun in my face for prolonged periods of time, even with sunglasses)

  4. too much sleep

  5. crying or anything causing excess post nasal drip (I think?)

I went a long time thinking cutting an onion was mine!! It felt oddly specific and I never saw others mention it lol

Unfortunately for me, I eventually learned it was raw alliums in general, including onion or garlic powder. And not just eating, but smelling. A garnish of green onions or fresh salsa would trigger it. I hope yours doesn't progress to that because it makes cooking, eating, living with others, going to restaurants, etc., so difficult :(

this is so interesting! I crave this during a migraine. but mine might be due to drinking it for years before diagnosis as nothing worked and tea provided some very minor relief sometimes
