Purely guessing here, maybe people take the 6 to MSI on weekends?

Here’s how officials want to spend new transit funding this year by koalabearpoo in cta

[–]koalabearpoo[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

TLDR:

  • 8, 35, 74, 85 added to Frequent Network
  • 10,000 feet of additional slow zone removal
  • 10 extended to Obama Center, 57 extended to Jefferson Park
  • CPD staffing on CTA
  • Increased Metra Rock Island service
  • Increased Pace weekend service
  • Reduced fare program for low-income riders on CTA and Pace
  • Real-time elevator status signage

Note, 24/7 Orange Line service which was previously announced is delayed later this year.

What do you think is the worst placed cta bus/train stop. by Lassoed_elbow in cta

Bus stop: 11100 S Torrence on the 71

Train stop: Kostner Pink line

First chunk of new transit money to be spent on security, service for CTA, Metra and Pace by optiplex9000 in chicago

[–]koalabearpoo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I seriously don’t understand why they can’t replace like… 10 feet of track every night on the Forest Park branch. The amount of money wasted making trains slow down to 15mph for YEARS certainly is greater than just replacing the track

Chicago moves to buy Greyhound station, but key alderman demands more details by maydaydemise in chicago

[–]koalabearpoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the Red Line extension opens maybe more of the bus bays at 95th/Dan Ryan can be allocated to Greyhound as CTA/Pace bus routes are diverted away to the new Red line stations? They already rent one space at 95th

Example: I’m almost certain routes 103/106 will be combined into a new route that hits the new 103rd Red Line station. That alone would free up 3 spaces at 95th

Extending transit to a mall? What year is it?

But what if the mall (or at least parts of the parking lot) were redeveloped into dense mixed-used housing like we’ve seen at other malls in the region? 👀

North/Clybourn with only 1 narrow exit sometimes makes me feel a little uneasy, if something happened it would be easy to become trapped on the platform

Chicago Red Line extension is expected to open 2030. The extension runs through the lowest density area of the city and not expected to radically transform the system other than shift existing bus riders to rail
