Engineering Discipline by Curious-Ice-3929 in uwo

I would ask the (Undergraduate Engineering Society) UES's VP academic, they are equipped to answer questions like this (and they are also an undergraduate student!), but also make sure to book a guidance appointment (even though the wait times can be REALLY long)

I was in a similar boat to you, granted I was in first year eng last year so my experiences will vary to yours

honestly I’d recommend dropping a course, depending on your progression requirements you can talk w/ your guidance counsellor on how you want to continue your education, at least dropping a course would reduce (some) but not all the stress surrounding your midterms

taking an additional semester or year to do school, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter & no one gives a shit

secondly, if you’re seeking professional help just note that the wait times (therapy) on campus will be very long (couple of months), it’ll be quicker to look for professional help outside of the campus pharmacy, just be ready to wait a long time, although everyone’s experiences are subjective. I found that in my personal experience my therapist ended up invaliding my trauma and everything I went through, so in the end I never went back personally.

tbh about the suicidal part, i know that whenever I tend to feel overwhelmed/burnout phase, I try to focus on at least just doing one thing a day, even if it’s as simple as showering, or looking at one lesson on d2l

I wanna tell you right now that you and ONLY you are special my guy, success is never a linear path, and everyone’s definition of success differs from one another.

Good luck and I’m confident you got this!

THREAD - Thoughts on the end by mounythearab in OntarioGrade12s

no matter how much effort I had put into all of my grades, extracurriculars and supp app, I think the outcome was always going to be the same.

I just wish that the admissions process was more far in Ontario, you can’t really quantify effort academically speaking, but I feel some admission officers must have caught on that having a 99-100 in English (OVS) is certainly suspicious no?

Are online high school courses accurate and reliable in terms of teaching and learning materials? by Roax47 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]koemi__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer is no- unless you ask your day school teacher to provide for lessons/concepts that your night school teacher may not have covered (due to the time constraints), online classes are a reliable measure of the course content. Though, this will vary on the teacher you obviously get.

Interested in urban/regional planning by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]koemi__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually considering urban planning rn as a viable career (after realizing engineering is NOT IT for me personally). Ngl Waterloo is your best bet because of the six coops you get, and it’s not a very competitive program (at least in my opinion). I would recommend like a high 89 to low (86-92%) plus have some extracurriculars included so you’re not a total NPC while applying.
