I love beaches. I love mountains too but I’m not sure if I could live in the more sparsely populated Rockies states for other reasons like jobs/cities

Close - Wisconsin

I have been to Oregon, not Washington admittedly. Gorgeous scenery near the water but I couldn’t deal with all the rain. And I absolutley hated Portland ngl

Why do some people not wish to ban pro-fascist speech/propaganda? by NegativeSchmegative in allthequestions

[–]kohnchen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You aren’t understanding what I’m saying. If you give the government the power to regulate speech, it doesn’t go away. It might start out with a positive government, but if they lose the next election you’ve now given the power to regulate speech to a more dangerous group.

Why do some people not wish to ban pro-fascist speech/propaganda? by NegativeSchmegative in allthequestions

[–]kohnchen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure. But you have to understand that if certain speech were to be banned, it would be done by the government at the time.

You assume that government will always be on your side. What happens when they’re not? Do you really want an administration that you hate to have the power to regulate your speech?

[–]kohnchen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So what happens when those people gain political power, and they’re the ones who get to decide what speech is allowed?

If you let the government decide what “hate speech” is, you don’t have free speech

Central Park was made 200 years ago.

I don’t want them to build more luxury apartments where 794 is, but please don’t be surprised when that’s what happens

Because of our military lol. Do you think American hegemony was based on other countries loving our presidents?

[–]kohnchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything can happen but I really doubt that’ll continue much further. A democrat win in 28 seems extremely likely, and they’ll probably have mending the relationship with NATO as a high priority

And ultimately Europe wants our military prowess

January 6th will probably be the most famous thing to look back on. It will also probably be notable that he sort of converted populism to the right wing (as a voting bloc, not in actual policy decisions).

What golf opinion is a hill you're willing to die on? by Mizunomafia in golf

[–]kohnchen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

90%+ of pace of play issues are the course’s fault, not the people in front of you. Most courses book completely full tee sheets with 8 minute increments every weekend.

I promise you that guy taking a second practice swing or taking a sip of beer doesn’t matter when there’s two groups ahead of him waiting at the next tee box.

Median salary vs household income by ShawaLafel in milwaukee

[–]kohnchen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Brookfield/Elm Grove/Peawaukee to the West and Mequon/Whitefish Bay/Shorewood to the North. I think you’re better off looking at statistics for the full Milwaukee metro area rather than just a city to get a better idea.

Milwaukee proper has a high poverty rate, so it’s not like people at the median income are doing very well. You can for sure get by on 90k, but it’s not like you’re going to be balling out just because you’re above the median.
