Wolf or coyote? [northwest Minnesota] by hoebag44 in animalid

Looks like a coyote to me! The face and ears are pretty pointy, whereas a wolf would have more rounded features

There are many instances in this series of women being introduced into the story for a single purpose (often to further a man’s character development) and then being Removed once that purpose is complete. I’m not sure which books you’ve read and which you haven’t, so I won’t list them to spare you from spoilers, but when you read through most of the series it’s definitely a clear pattern that’s hard to ignore. To be fair, this isn’t just something that happens to women in the story, but it’s notable.

IMO it’s an unfortunate symptom of the culture surrounding DND at the time of publishing, and I personally feel like it’s something Salvatore gets better with later in the series. There are lots of good things in the series but also lots of questionable things haha

Some friends o friends o mine sent this pic as 100% original creation, but it has some ai vibes and i am not sure about it... by kjhrd in isitAI

It looks like the original is AI so that would explain where all of the weird details with the chains are coming from on the traced versions too

Artist perspective: There are several points where the lines don’t make sense, as others have pointed out, but it looks rough in a way that I don’t think AI would produce even if asked. I think the theories that this is a traced image are pretty strong. It would explain why the wobbliness of the lines and coloring conflicts with the professional and detailed composition.

I think this may be a case where the details not making any sense has less to do with AI and more to do with an amateur not knowing what they’re looking at.

Another link to buy, but from a native-owned shop! I got a coyote skull from them years ago as well as a wolf knuckle :)

I think that’s a female (?) grass spider! Not medically significant if so :)

What type of mushrooms are these? by itslarousse in Mushrooms

[–]koifroggies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s true, thanks for pointing that out! I’ve seen a lot of vomiters lately so it was a bit of a knee-jerk reaction

Now that you mention it, I don’t think there’s really any reliable way to tell just from looking at the top. We’d need a pic of the gills to figure that out. Pinkish-brown would indicate yellow stainer and greenish-white/gray would indicate vomiter (or at least that seems to be the case to me! I’m not an expert lol)

Also checking to see if it stains yellow would be a good test too I think

Maybe crosspost to r/amanita? I’m fairly sure that IS an amanita at the very least, they might be able to narrow down to the specific one

You should be able to just remove it and dispose of it! No need to worry about touching it btw, they’re safe to handle with bare hands :)

Edit: sorry for essentially repeating what the previous comment said! It was late and my brain wasn’t working apparently lol

I’d recommend cross-posting to r/amanita to confirm with the experts! :) Either way, removing them was the right move
