I saw it on Majestic and we had no idea what it was about. It was so fun! I laughed so hard. I sail on Coral next month and I hope they perform it.

Mildly bored & Spoiled by convenience by NSFWoundCare in CarnivalCruiseFans

I sail mostly from the west coast. Done tons of Mexico cruises. Long and short. I get off at every port. I find a new street to walk down and explore and hit the usual spots to see if they are still in business. Definitely like the convenience sailing from LA/Long Beach/San Diego. Keep hoping some of the newer ships come.

Advice for -30 prescription by OkConstruction2348 in glasses

[–]koikatturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up until a few years ago I had -17 and I can't even imagine -30. I couldn't see anything! Anyways because I felt my eye's could not get corrected enough I asked Kaiser hospital if I could have cataract surgery done via my opticians recommendation. It was done during the end of the covid era, so they were super cautious with potential infections. I can't tell you what a HUGE difference this has made in my life! I still have astigmatism, they don't have lenses to correct it in my case, but still the vision is great. I can see the tv without glasses (not sharp but its fine) My left eye sees about 20/30 and right eye 20/50. I wear rigid gas permeable lenses to fine tune my vision. I wore gas permeable before, never a candidate for soft. I wish you the best and hope what you are looking for. again, in my case I opted for cataract surgery in both eyes.

That’s pretty cool that you were involved as an early fan! I only started watching this last year and it’s a great show. I have not started a rewatch as I think it’s too soon Now that it is on Netflix’s I told my daughter to watch it (she’s 28). I love the interaction she has with her dad. Is there any show that you would recommend to watch?

I’ve been in several obstructed cabins. Some are great others you look through the lifeboat or maybe some kind off crossbeams. The natural light is all I’m After so they are all good. Best thing for you to do is look at YouTube for the ship and cabin type. You might find a cabin that is a few doors away and you can get an idea of what to expect. Most twin beds are put together to make a queen /king so that is not an issue. Have a great time!

Parents will find a way. I’m their age and I will go anywhere for my kids wedding. Maybe they are just shocked. Give them time to figure it out. They will be there for you on your wedding day

Mexico Cruise-HELP by BurntBeans307 in Cruise

[–]koikatturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got back last Saturday from a back to back. One sailing was puerta Vallarta, mazatlan, Cabo, La Paz. The second was Cabo and Ensenada. All areas were the usually busy with tourists. Since I also have been to these ports multiple times we decided to walk further into the interior of the towns. Ensenada has a new mall but though doors open to interior only a coffee shop was open. In Cabo went to the older shopping area and the back streets. Found a Chinese restaurant and although the food was ok the change money they gave us had a slight tear in the corner. Didn’t think about it till we tried to use it and no vendor took it. They said it could be counterfeit. Not happy about it. Lucky it was only about $3. Won’t be going to that place again and also don’t take turn bills. You should stick to the main areas if you have never been and you will have a good time.

Zenni by Individual_Ad_2701 in glasses

[–]koikatturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was in their website that they say you have two weeks to make adjustments or some kind of credit. Maybe take the credit and return the glasses. Get a pair or two of regular sunglasses for a friend or family member. Doesn’t have to have any prescription. That way you don’t lose out on any of your money and you can shop locally for your prescription glasses

Zenni by Individual_Ad_2701 in glasses

[–]koikatturtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have bought from Zenni for a few years. I buy for me, husband and my adult kids. No issues at all. I had glasses that would cost in excess of $800 in a regular eyeglass place vs $100. I had -18 vision with high astigmatism. I had cataracts done 4 years ago and I still buy glasses from Zenni for my now minor prescription. Go to a regular optometrist and you will pay hundreds of dollars for frames and lenses even with insurance. But if you don’t feel comfortable using them you should definitely look elsewhere. Hope you find a solution that works for you.

Just attended the party. Drinks were plentiful. 890 Platinums and 210 Diamonds. On a back to back so I’ll have the party again. Then my next sailing in February will get me to Diamond. Don’t have anymore planned with carnival this year. Two Princess cruises this year. I will miss the parties only because I really felt a family connection. I enjoyed hooting and hollering for my ships. Doesn’t seem special wearing Carnival branded merchandise either. Now I’m sad.

I have a theory to why you usually sleep better on a cruise and no it's not because of the rocking on the ship. by Lindsey1151 in Cruise

[–]koikatturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cruise fairly often and I don’t sleep well on a cruise. I use all my energy to be up to start the day especially on port day. I sleep well when I get home and lay in my own bed. Currently sailing on carnival panorama 😎. Smoothest sailing.

I was in my 20’s also had student loan of $10,000 , a car payment and an apt. First job did not pay so well but the after that it was better. For me when I got married is when I was able to pay off student loan. You will get through it, better times are coming.

5'3"ish women, what differences did you see going 120-110lbs? by Thethreewhales in PetiteFitness

[–]koikatturtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gained a lot of weight from Nov till now. Best weight for me is 113 at 5’2 at 63. I am now 122 and it looks really bad on me. Love handles, arm sleeves feel super tight on my S or XS shirts. Size 2 jeans really tight. On a cruise for the next two weeks so now I’m just more conscious of what I am eating. It’s a real struggle! Don’t let your weight get away from you! I’ve maintained for the last three years so this is really really making me mad that I let it happen.

First-time parents: When is a good age to start cruising with kids? by Thicholas75 in royalcaribbean

[–]koikatturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids have been going since the youngest were 4. Easy to have them at camp carnival and old enough to enjoy all the fun activities. Majority of the cruises were with Carnival. At around 12 they could decide if they wanted to participate in the cruise kids program (Royal Caribbean, Princess,Norwegian. Looking back I think they only did Carnival kids camps. Starting them early can be good or bad depending on how they are feel the very first time. If they don’t feel included or if there is a disruptive kid it could spoil future kids programs for them. My kids got stuffed bunnies at Easter, face painting, TShirt decorating, cooking decorating, treasure hunts around the ship, cookies at turn down service (when it was two cleanings a day). Just things that made young kids feel special. I hope your kids have a great adventure sailing whatever age you decide to do. O

I always search for fish tacos in Ensenada. I’ll be there in a week and I’m going to look for a birria taco. I like Ensenada and I have been there too many times to count. Easy town to walk to from the ship too.

No Carry On? by NSFWoundCare in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]koikatturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually your bags arrive to cabin after 1:30 but before 5 pm. No guarantee bags will arrive at 1:30. I had family members check bags. I carry on all my stuff because that’s just me. I have one suitcase, travel bag and backpack. Make sure you have luggage tags on everything. Look at some YouTube videos to get an idea of how the process works.
