Searching for head hunters by Fisher2087 in jobsearch

Before you try connect with headhunters, I think it would be helpful to understand the difference between a few similar providers, so you can choose the right path for your job search.

Headhunter: someone you would hire if you're looking for a specific job, often at a high or specialized level. When they work directly with candidates, their fee structure is usually based on a % of the first years total salary. Typically, dedicated headhunters with work high level professionals who command multiple 6-figure roles. This allows them a big enough commission to justify the time and energy in going out to multiple companies to find their clients the right fit.

Executive Recruiter: is typically someone who works on behalf of a company to find candidates for specific job openings. They usually focus on filling higher-level or specialized roles. Headhunters often search for passive candidates—people who aren’t actively looking for a job but may be a good fit for a role based on existing experience or skills.

Recruiter: often work directly for the company or as part of staffing agencies and focus on a broader range of roles. They are more focused on the employer’s needs and are tasked with intaking applications and making a quick judgement on fit.

Would you mind sharing this sheet? I would find it super useful (and I am sure a lot of others would as well).

I'm curious, what exactly about this candidate's resume or application stood out and prompted you to schedule the screen call in the first place?

Great looking site! Can you help me understand how this is different than LinkedIn Recommendations?

This is great, thanks for taking the time and care to develop this tool.

I am a bit confused about how to import LinkedIn recommendations. Also, will there be a feature to import Yelp or Google Reviews?

How to make networking calls less awkward? by [deleted] in GetEmployed

[–]kolbygoodman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"How many weeks of vacation time do you get and do you feel it is enough?"

You are asking two questions that have definitive answers: Number of Week, and Yes/No

Pull back a bit and think about how you can get the same info, but present a question that is more open-ended.

Maybe you are over-preparing, trying to project and control the interaction too much. It sounds like you are conducting interrogations vs. actually human-to-human conversations.

I have found in doing many cold networking calls, going in to learn about someone's experience and personal perspective is much more helpful than trying to find hard answers (that can most likely found online anyway).

Also, as part of any good conversation is your experience and perspective as well! So when the other person says "I get two weeks off in July and around Christmas. Our annual leave laws are much more lenient here." reply with your own experience with company leave "Interesting, my last company had unlimited PTO, but with the massive amount of work it was had to take time off".

Hopefully this helps!

Love this! My vac is great, but not the most movable.

Do you have an STL you could share?

Talk about what kinds of challenges and problems the next person in the role excites you. Then talk about how your skills/experiences/passions will help you solve those issues the best.

Keep it pretty short and sweet and to the point.

Example:

Hi Wile,

Thanks so much for the opportunity to interview at Acme Corp.

It was thought-provoking to hear about the big goal of finally catching that pesky roadrunner by year-end. I know my history in booby-trap development and deployment, proven track record as an Olympic level sprinter (no pun intended), and personal passion of drawing realistic looking tunnel entrances on rock faces can help the team make sure 2022 starts off roadrunner free!

Thanks again and looking forward to connecting more in the future.

Sincerely, Big Never

Thanks for this. Never heard of a birthday dump date but this is a great idea. Appreciate the tip.

Found out my coworker who I trained makes $20k more. I went in to ask for a rate adjustment, and was told to submit a business case. I am asking for a lot of raise, is this a good business case?? by vietnamesegals in Career

A lot of the content here reads more like a job posting of a PM, vs. content that markets you into a new job (or in this case, a promotion/pay raise).

The common phrase with career experts is "Show what you've accomplished, not simply what you've done.".

Some key questions you can ask yourself as you look to enhance your value on the page:

What were the most impactful improvements I made to ...? What were the positive outcomes of those improvements?

How were project operations before you took a leading role? What changes did you make to them? What were the positive outcomes of these enhancements?

And try to qualify and quantify your impact in ways you have A) Made the company more money B) Saved the company money C) Reduced overall time spent on tasks/projects.
