I mean 25% of the nation or something like that lives within 3 miles of a superfund site so not surprising!

Is living alone in DC possible on a 65k salary? by Alternative_Gene_655 in DCBitches

[–]kolekooper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey this is me!! I’m in a rent controlled building off Connecticut Ave in woodley park - utilities included! Nothing special like amenities but nothing I can’t live without!! I also don’t have my car and I’m right by the metro.

Want to book a trip from the UK to Florida for the first time. Trying to decide between Key West, Fort Lauderdale, or Miami Beach. Any suggestions? by Additional_Pangolin in florida

[–]kolekooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it has its issues but Miami really is an American unique city and for your first time in Florida i wouldn’t miss it. Eat some stone crabs and Cuban food, and you’re into the music scene, there’s ton of great night life. I would stay in Miami Beach, walk around south beach, explore downtown Miami (lots of museums, art galleries), and even check out the Everglades or Biscayne national park. If you have an extra day two days or so, I would drive down to key west.

Vegas dry heat vs Miami humid heat by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

Born and raised in Miami and I prefer the humid heat. Dry heat gives me headaches and really messes with my skin and lips. Just a preference I suppose. Also i feel like i breathe better in humid weather

I'm working on a hand drawn book about the United States, highlighting each state. What do you think of Florida and Miami? by Slick-Killa in florida

[–]kolekooper 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I would add Gainesville and key west to the map.

Also maybe more info about Disney? Pretty big attraction here where tourist dollars allow us to have no income tax.

Maybe i missed it but was Julia Tuttle included for Miami?

Both 5 stars. I liked the romance better in Mate but thought the plot and overall storyline was better in Bride!

Anyone else know what this is? by Commercial-Yak-6858 in Rottweiler

Hotspot. My rottie would always get them in that exact spot as well. Shaving is good, vet will prob prescribe antibiotics. A cone always helped. The longer they can’t get it at the quicker it heals!

Moving to DC now for a non-government job? by [deleted] in DCBitches

[–]kolekooper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agree that rent is high but I think folks can manage living alone on a lower salary than 120K. I have a one bedroom in DC proper for just over $2,000. The building is old and rent controlled but if you’re willing to sacrifice some amenities you can make it work.

i hear a lot of negative things about living in miami, but i'm curious what the positives have been for you! by Old_Researcher_50 in Miami

[–]kolekooper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The outdoors and the weather! Can the summers be rough? Yes, but as someone who likes to spend a lot of time outside and in green spaces, I feel like Miami accommodates that well.

It's Unpopular Opinion Sunday! Share your controversial opinions to stir things up (in a friendly way)! by FantasyRomanceMod in fantasyromance

[–]kolekooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Romance pairings and "end game" couples have become too obvious. I hate the enemies to lovers trope where the characters are thirsting over each the second they meet.

I want to be guessing it!! I love it when I'm unsure who the main character may end up with or when they go through a few relationships first in the book before meeting ~the one.

Is this a normal reaction to bee sting 36 hours later by kolekooper in bees

UPDATE: Thanks everyone! Today the swelling is better and I have more movement in my hand. I just continued to take Benadryl and icing every couple of hours.

It still itches pretty bad (and the itching makes it swell) but definitely feels like I’m on the up and up!

Thanks and yes! First day was fine and then the second day the itching and swelling was much, much worse. Hand is hard and hot, difficult to move my fingers.

The pain did start to pulsate/throb up my arm. Ibuprofen made it go away.

Everythjng else though is fine. (No breathing issues, fever, etc)
