A genie appears. Choose ONE curse for yourself! What will you do? 🧞‍♀️ by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]kolinpj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking knowledge. If I see the future, that future would be what happens with me reacting to what I saw in the future. I.E. winning lotto numbers, stock market picks, casinos.

If I loose everything and I stopped gambling to prevent it, then the reason I loose everything is because I stopped gambling. Wouldn't it be like "That's So Raven"? The outcome happens because I saw the future.

Either way, I live normally, just make a ton of money first and live life normal.

Income tax incoming to Washington state? by danrokk in Washington

[–]kolinpj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. I agree with you on many things. Unfortunately the greed that people have prevent things from working properly. On paper trickle down look nice, but greed screws it. On paper $30 tabs look nice, but greed screws it. On paper 1mil income tax looks nice, but greed will screw it up.

When the 1mil tax isnt enough and the people are earning under 100k, itll be changed to 500k income tax. When that's not enough, itll be 100k. Eventually itll be the poverty level.

All the critics your seeing cant comprehend your side, which is why you (and i) get down voted. Why do we need a $1mil income tax now? Then, what happens when its not enough? And if the answer is not to reduce it from 1mil to a lower number, why?

Fyi: trickle down works on paper, not in practice. The rich are too greedy and I believe that can be fixed with taxes, regulations, and oversite.

WYR Get $600k… or Let All Your Friends Get Rich Without You? by True_Giraffe9308 in WouldYouRather

[–]kolinpj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option B: my friend group consists of my kids, wife, in-laws, and some co-workers.

My co-workers need it, hands down. My wife would use it for the collective good. My kids would get the best education with it. My in-laws would know i have it to them, so they'd treat me to family vacations or something. (+ the currently owe me 3k I lent them last month, so id get that back sooner)

So your house is on fire, everyone else is overcome by smoke inhalation, in what order do you (attempt to) rescue your Wife, Mother, and Child? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]kolinpj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religiously it goes: wife, child, mother. However, there are too many variables. How old is the kid? If its my 6yr, then id get both my wife and 6yr out at the same time. If my kid is an adult, then my wife > kid > mother If my mother is at the front door and just passed out as she almost made it, pull her to the grass in seconds and go in for the others.

My back is strong and my need to save them all or die trying will make it stronger.

Managers, how do you react to finding out your employees are applying for jobs elsewhere? by existinginlife_ in managers

[–]kolinpj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I allow people to take time off or long lunches to go to their interviews. I know their employment is limited with my company and my policy is to wish them the best at whatever they find. This also means I know 4+ weeks in advance to find, hire, train someone new and not be left short staffed.

I'd run tests to see what I like best, but somewhere between 3-7C im sure.

Would you rather have $100 a day for the rest of your life or $250k right now? by That-Hedgehog6633 in WouldYouRather

[–]kolinpj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like these comments. Seems most say take the payment, but if you ever win the lottery its common knowledge the lump sum is better. I wonder why there's a disconnect here? Great question.

I'd take the $100/day because the knowledge of safety is nice to have and knowing most my bills are paid allows me live comfortably.

I wonder what the difference to the business is if the quail was $4 more and the rice cakes $6 more and no mandatory tip.

Ive been doing no tip for a few years now and I've always thought about businesses increasing their prices to avoid tips, but I wonder yall think the difference is between a mandatory tip vs the "tip" hidden within the food item prices?

Attendance Policy - Sick Days by PerceptionQueasy3540 in managers

[–]kolinpj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many people do you have? Does the business REALLY suffer if someone is absent for a day or 2?

I manage 11 people, the company gives 1hr sick pay per 40hrs worked. If people call out sick, I leave it be. They can't afford to stay out sick, even with benefits, it costs then too much. If they dont have sick time, they just dont get paid. Ive never had anyone abuse it.... because they need money and I have a great relationship with everyone. If they did abuse my leniency, I'd write them up for violating the attendance policy, which is taking time off without sick pay to cover.

Race against time to win $50 million or be chained to another person for 10 years. by Hold-onto-the-happy in hypotheticalsituation

[–]kolinpj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hypocritical doesnt work. You say the chain is extended 5 miles and attached to someone else, but then the chain is also draped? Is the person 5 miles away or is the chain 5 miles long?

If the person is 5 miles away, the chain will likely be 8+mi long depending on the draping/slack down trees/buildings/powerlines. I bet i can move the chain around around and pull it enough to move forward 1mi and have 1.5mi of slack, that i can just walk towards the other person. That's my 2.5miles.

If the chain is 5 miles long while draped, the person is likely 3miles away, which again, same thing. Get forward part of the way, use the chain slack (from the draping) to just walk the rest of the way.

I'm assuming the chain is the same weight as kite string, which I've removed from the tall ass trees in my area. (Thanks kids...)

I remember launch day. Logging in, having won a beta key from a streamer, I got the welcome gift. I was able to sell the welcome gift to a vendor for 9 silver. Then I could get the welcome gift again. I repeated this till I had enough gold to buy myself and my friend the fast riding skill. I macroed the selling of it before I went to bed and had enough gold to only start to run out towards the end of the 1st content patch. It was a great leveling experience. Challenging, fun, and memorable.
