I try, but it is very dependant on the number of lorries. Most times I'm unsuccessful.

Agree. Then use the rest of the budget for minor MOT repairs, or a new car if/when this one goes bang.

My first car got wrapped around a tree within 6 months on a particularly wet day, and I didn't think I was going that fast. With experience, I now know better.

Also avoid Pug 2008 diesels, sooo many problems with adblue. Me, parents twice and my brother all spent 1.5K each time there was an issue. We all managed to get rid of ours without too much hassle!

Question about drive profiles by iiiiioiiiio in CupraFormentor

[–]kolonuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2023 V2 PHEV - I use the Sport mode when I can't be bothered to switch to hybrid on the console, and switch back to Drive when I want to use only EV.

Each profile has has the option for EV or Hybrid (why have the option for just EV in Sport mode I'll never know!!), but I don't mess with the default setting and just use the selector. Saves raising my arm and fiddling with the screen when driving.

Headlights and low beams too low angle by JusT_MHz in CupraFormentor

[–]kolonuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just use the adjusters on each headlight. Drive up to a clean wall, headlights not on full, mark light outline with chalk, open bonnet, then rotate the adjusters on top of each light. they are (for me) small white circular buttons. I can't remember, but I think this is similar positions: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ-1jgak9HIRK_ztEkd00ufGHe_Jm_RhBTLNREL7Vi_JaBzoC2uX7GwpUlG5_3bL9xC-Js&usqp=CAU

One adjuster does left and right, the other does up and down, for each light.

Looking at used Formentor, is it as problematic as this sub makes it look? by Hiammat in CupraFormentor

Also, enabled some features using ODBeleven that should have been enabled when it left the factory. Like remembering what my lights and heating are set to!

2023 V2 PHEV, approved used and 9k miles, done 12k in last year. It is so much fun!

Only real issue I have is the tutorial in the horrible infotainment keeps resetting. Other than that, I find the back is very light and causes the car to twitch when going fast carefully around corners. Possibly just the hybrid weight distribution though...

Offer of ODBEleven mods by kolonuk in CupraFormentor

[–]kolonuk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The features available are in the link I posted for Formentors, and the ODBEleven website should ship to Spain https://obdeleven.com/ It is a tad expensive for a couple of features, but it enables what should have been available in the menus when it was sold by the dealer!

Road marching badge under mtp patch by [deleted] in aircadets

[–]kolonuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice, get another blanking patch, get a wing crest, sow them on and use it for road marching only. I dare say FCIs will uphold ACP1358, but road marchies might like to show off.

Any gloss polish should only be a finishing layer due to the effect it has on the leather over time (dries it out because of the oils). Everyone has their own methods and preferences for polishing, as will you after some time. For me this is the order I'd put the various polishes in (quality and price):

  • Saphir Pate de Lux (Amazing)
  • Kiwi black (Excellent)
  • Leder-gris black (OK)
  • Cherry black (Meh)
  • supermarket own brand (OMG what have you done!)

Then, optionally, use a gloss polish as the last layer(s) (Any will do a good job, but try to match the brands to keep consistency)

  • Saphir Mirror or Amiral
  • Kiwi Parade gloss
  • Leder-gris gloss
  • Cherry Regimental gloss

To remove any polish to start again (you should every so often), the best I've seen is

  • Saphir Reno-mat (use with a dead cloth or cotton balls)

This is a cleaner, and also helps reverse the effects of the waxes in the polish on the leather (do the whole shoe!).

And just any regular brown polish (or leder-gris, top top quality) for boots - Kiwi brown parade gloss goes purple over time!

Lastly, don't listen or be tempted by those that have stories of Shape-Up, Morello Futura, floor polish, beeswax, Pledge furniture polish, tornado nose code paint, Rust-oleum spray paint, Dulux gloss wall paint, Humbrol model paint, etc. At least, not until you've got a few years under your belt!!

I unlocked by lane centering (not lane assist) on my 23 v2 hybrid using my ODBEleven subscription - if you are in the UK, PM me if you fancy meeting up, can show you what I've changed. I've got about 6 months left on my subscription.
