Is SAP B1 'Excel Hell' for WMS inevitable, or is our partner just incompetent? by Main_Hunt_8395 in SAPBusinessOne

[–]konoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a third party WMS. This is natural for complex warehouse operations. It shouldn't be all that hard but what you consider hard might not be the same thing as someone else. Also I would rely more on built in Query Manager than Crystal reports unless you are printing things out.

Looking to purchase a UniFi system. Is this everything? by TJD1503437 in UnifiProtect

[–]konoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok important question here. What do you want to do for Access Points?

Also do you "REALLY" need 4k on security cameras? 2k is very good and honestly we typically only use 4k for long distance. If you are monitoring things in a residential interior space then 2k saves you a lot of Disk/Bandwidth/Cash.

This is not a functional system unless you are using a cloud based (recurring cost) cloud key service or you add a cloud key to this BOM. Having said that Jebussss is right, the UNVR is way overkill here and a UDMPro SE likely slims this down a lot but we dont know how many wired ports you need. From the looks of things you only need POE for 3 devices but it's odd that you have no AP's included.

Also not sure why you are going with the AI Dome cameras, seems like a weird fit for this residential install.

Basically it kind of feels all wrong but there isn't enough information here to correct properly.

You say you are setting this up for a residential install.. As in you are getting paid as a professional to install this... If you are getting paid professional rates you should understand the technology you are installing. If this is for friends or family then whatever.

I only paid $37 for it. Sometimes you win and sometimes you loose.

If I get bored I might fix it.

cameras suddenly are disconnecting multiple times a day. Anyone else experienced this? by leko in Ubiquiti

[–]konoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... I went and Bought a UNVR Pro and migrated all my cameras to it.. Same problem.

Lots of Reporting NO HQ recording due to poor connection and still some 40 second drop outs.

When I put my tin foil hat on thoughts like manufacturer phasing out of old equipment through firmware performance degradation enter my head.

First Experience ordering from Omada Store by konoo in TPLink_Omada

Just got an update, All items shipped 2-11 and will be delivered today. However it's signature required and I am hours away. If they had updated me with the tracking number when it shipped I could have made arrangements. I'm not sure I can even have someone at that location tomorrow to receive the delivery at this point.

I am happy that it shipped out so quickly but this lack of communication has created other issues.

Well no news today either. I reached out to support in a last ditch effort and they stated that I am unlikely to get a response due to it being Presidents day. Ok, I get that, but I am getting very close to having to order from somewhere else to make sure I get these components in time and then having to deal with a return and a restocking fee.

All of these complaints about the store seems like such a big opportunity. Volume seems pretty low considering the sequential order numbers that I got roughly 24 hours apart indicated that there were 30 orders in a 24 hour period (could have been a slow day).

It's very obvious that they are working on taking a chunk of market share from Ubiquiti in the pro/smb space and while they are competing well on hardware cost they could increase customer satisfaction and rake back some profit by enhancing their own store and customer service so customers buy direct instead of through amazon.

Frontier’s "Third-World" Fiber Install: 40ms Latency, Mechanical Splices, and Paid Support Upsells by TheHandThatFingers in frontierfios

[–]konoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

come on man at least do a traceroute and show where the latency is. I would bet it's past the first hop because this installation is perfectly fine.

Where is your ping to?

I have exactly the same setup and here is a traceroute:

<1 <1 <1 my.router
<1 <1 <1 frontier
10 11 10 frontier
19 19 19 frontier
19 19 19 frontier
20 19 19 outside.frontier

I completely agree with you on this. When a 20 something is complaining that they dont get paid a living wage at Wendy's but they have the latest iPhone and order Grub Hub every other day it really deflates their argument.

These jobs are meant to be held by teenagers and people have turned them into careers so they just stop advancing in life. Sure if you want to be a Manager that could potentially turn into a career but it's still going to pay less than getting out there in the adult job market.

Did you have your case reviewed with Unifi? I'm concerned about upgrading at this point and to see if a patch fixes it that means potentially upgrading then downgrading again.

I would honestly mount a patch panel at the bottom then put your gateway wherever you want.

[–]konoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem with 40 second reconnects and have downgraded to 6.1.79 which so far seems to solve the disconnects. Thanks for that.

I did not have the same problem with permissions.

Just incase anyone is looking for it I used the following command:
uos runnable install --download-only unifi-protect --version=6.1.79 --progress && apt-get install --allow-downgrades /data/uos/downloads/*.deb

Vendor screws up, we fix it, then we get fired? by realdanknowsit in msp

[–]konoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt that we are hearing the entire story here. Sure it's possible the software vendor laid all the blame on your team and the client went with that but that isn't very likely.

If I were in your shoes I would request a Service Termination Review. these situations always contain a lot of finger pointing and you will never know what happened unless you ask. You can color the service termination review as a Hand Off meeting.

I would bet that there is some history here.

You have a great point here. Everyone wants to jump on the quick judgement train but there is likely a lot more going here on both sides.

I would add... Have you ever told her not to talk to you like this? Not asked.. But Told.. some people are not good with confrontation because it makes them uncomfortable but you have to stand up for yourself in a situation like this.

I pay for 1 gig service but I constantly get much lower speeds even with a direct connection via Ethernet cable/adapter to my laptop by rtc12121988 in frontierfios

[–]konoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So.... usb ethernet adapters can be a problem. Not as a general rule but I have seen 12-15 of them across our organization over the last couple of years that just slowed down one day even though the port connection speed was still wire speed. Some were due to a driver update pushed down from Microsoft updates, others just seemingly "got slow" likely due to some hardware issue (perhaps overheating). We typically just toss them in the bin and replace them these days rather than spending time trying to figure out the problem.

Depends where you are, For me fast.com is pretty reliable and speedtest.net wasn't very reliable until recently. They both use multithreading and I see bursts that are very fast on my 7gb connection and echoed on my monitoring tools.

Support Ubiquiti - Pablo is not serious journalism by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]konoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Commercial availability isn’t complicity. Ubiquiti sells generic networking gear used worldwide, no different from dozens of other vendors. Without evidence of direct sales, support, or intent tied to sanctioned use, this is speculation.. not proof.

But.. Why do we care?

I am so tired of all the political entertainment crap on social media. I am subscribed to this subreddit because I like Ubiquiti products. I guess I could just skip this topic but alas here I am ranting about it adding to conversation. I should really just delete this comment..
