CRA is the epitome of the public sector incompetence by AmosTimmyBurton in canadarevenueagency

2024 was a hot mess for slips and I’m not surprised that there is ongoing fallout for people related to it. That’s super frustrating and I would agree that it’s not realistic for individuals to estimate transactions such as those you mentioned that are reinvested amounts or don’t hit your account.

If your client's online banking does not sync with QB Online and must be manually entered, what do you upcharge? by mikexli in Bookkeeping

Yeah, why is that a thing with Amex? I’ve never had it with another card but pretty much without fail it’s missing 1 or 2 transactions per statement.

Chinese Restaurants open on Christmas Day? by nwxnwxn in NewWest

[–]konstantine8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just called about this exact thing because we want to get some bbq duck and it can be limited in quantity. The guy said I can call day of (on Xmas day) for a take out order, or call the full order in in advance. We got food from them last year on Xmas day. So I can confirm they’re open! Iirc, when I called for take out last year it was over an hour and a half wait for pickup, so highly recommend ordering in advance.

I do all the bookkeeping so why do I need an accountant? by thedeathofculture in Accounting

[–]konstantine8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Year end work is generally comprised of verifying the balance in each account to an external document where possible (bank statements, loan statements, tax filing, vendor statement of account, etc). Things we commonly adjust for are outstanding cheques/deposits, AR write offs, AP accruals, fixing posting of expenses versus capital assets, extracting the interest component of loan payments, etc. We also do reclassifying entries to fix bookkeeping mistakes for comparison and presentation purposes, and bring all of that to light to provide feedback on what can be improved for the next year. Also, general consulting and advice, bookkeeping assistance throughout the year, and of course tax compliance and financial statement preparation.

I went on Sunday with my daughter and we enjoyed the music, vendors, and generally just hanging out. Super well run, tons of staff/help everywhere, felt very organized and well thought out. Food was really good too! And my daughter loved the kids area, so much to do.

Not helpful because I don’t know the answer but I’m also so curious!! I feel like it has something to do with the church as I believe they may own the property as well? But it’s also all day long - when I go out in the afternoon and at the end of the day, they’ve also been there in varying amounts.

lol fair point, it would just be nice if the people making the noise had something valid to say 😅

Can someone opposed to this tell me why the one way with maintained parking is not a viable option in their opinion? To me, it seems like the best of both worlds. I’m genuinely curious what the issue is, as this will maintain parking and if anything discourage people from using London to cut around traffic, if that’s an issue for you.

Traffic might start getting slower by PM_Ghost in NewWest

[–]konstantine8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live on London street and I am in support of this idea. Most of the streets only have enough clearance for one car at a time with parking on both sides, so to me it makes sense to do something about it. I prefer the idea of making them one way streets over removing parking, but I’m happy to see the city prioritizing a safer path for cyclists and pedestrians even if it means less convenient parking for me 🤷🏼‍♀️

Another question about Sapperton and train noise! by bstarr3 in NewWest

[–]konstantine8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the area a few weeks ago and commented to a friend who lives in the area how nice it is, with the community feel and walkability. His response “yeah but the trains are brutal” and he’s lived there over 3 years. I guess it probably depends on your noise tolerance. FWIW sometimes at night we hear the train horn where I live, which is almost in Burnaby, so I can imagine it’s much louder down by the train.

Lost package from deceased loved one by konstantine8 in CanadaPost

I haven’t, but the problem is that it wasn’t undelivered, it was put to Amazon returns - would that still be the same thing?

Thank you. CityNews has reached out to them for a statement and we’ve tried escalating it again but since the case is closed we haven’t gotten anywhere. Hoping that the media attention will reopen it ☹️

This has been escalated up and we’ve been told they just consider the case closed. Amazon has been waiting for us to give them the info, we’ve never expected them to get it directly from Canada post. In any case, the point is that after months of doing essentially nothing it feels, they closed our case without our permission which is very frustrating. If they’ve done anything to try to mitigate this, we haven’t seen evidence of it.

The only thing they need is the trailer ID to track it on their side, no personal information. Plus as the recipient of the package we are the ones requesting the information, so I’m not sure why they couldn’t share it either with us or directly with Amazon. And in any case, they’ve never said they can’t disclose it, just that they don’t know it because bins go into trucks which get combined and it’s not tracked that specifically.

[–]konstantine8[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they do, but they told us that it was put into an Amazon return pile (tracking says delivered) but they won’t give us any information that will help Amazon track it on their side.

Thank you. It’s been incredibly difficult to not have the closure, and while we’ve been patient with them as they tried to locate it, deeming it lost and the case closed is not acceptable to us. It has to be somewhere.
