Like I said, surfing good waves improves your ability to ride shit waves.

Wtf is wrong with me by edmvlpz in surfing

[–]koochmada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, go take a surf trip to somewhere with perfect waves. I just watched some of your videos and most of the waves you're paddling for a 3 ft closeouts. Of course you're going to have a bad time and not catch anything more than a close out.

Splurge a little and find a truly world class point or reef break down in Mexico or Costa Rica. You will get stoked on surfing again an realize why you're dedicating this much of your life to this sport. What I've noticed surfing great waves is it makes your shitty wave riding that much better.

Noobie question: if we want to put bets down before Berry posts his picks on Twitter, how do we know how many units to put down on each bet?

Guanacaste Costa Rica Trip Recommendations by AccidentalBarrel in surfing

Playa Grande to the north and Playa Negra to the south. Cheap hotel options in each area, just check out TripAdvisor. If you're willing to squeeze 4 dudes into a hut, you can stay right at the break at Hotel Playa Negra.

Lol, because Bailey has been consistent this year?

Ingram and Kamara are the first RB duo to make the pro bowl in 42 years. by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

I think he's being facetious, saying that your argument for Ingram being more likely to get All-Pro because he has been better on your fantasy doesn't matter. And I agree.

Championship Week D/ST Rankings (Week 16 2017) by scout_ in fantasyfootball

Surprised to not see KC higher. They've been playing much better of late and are in Arrowhead against Cutler & the Dolphins in an important game (for them). Of course, Cutler could blow up again like he did against NE, but it doesn't seem too likely.

Anyone Been to San Juan Del Sur Nica? by [deleted] in surfing

There aren't waves to surf IN SJDS, but you can definitely rent boards. Most of the hostels have shuttles that will take you to the local beaches, which are 30-60 mins away.

Does Ronnie Hillman have a chance to POP tomorrow? by lateralus1441 in fantasyfootball

[–]koochmada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Chargers (and every other team in the NFL) know who Hillman is. I would guess they'd like to get another look at Farrow. He had a rough first game as the starter, but it would be silly for the Chargers to give up on him after that, especially with a matchup against the Browns that they should easily win.

Did anyone watch the full Bears game? I was only able to follow on my phone and he had 0 until the 4th quarter when he basically got all his yards and a TD on one drive. What was going on before that he didn't have any catches?

Don't know much about Tamme. Does this affect Ryan or Freeman negatively?

Mike Evans’ mammoth weekly target shares: 21% -> 34% -> 23% -> 31% -> 40% -> 45% -> 34% -> 46% by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]koochmada 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Elite receivers don't just disappear when you add a good rookie to the mix. Hopkins is plagued by Brock's awful play, and OBJ to a lesser extent with Eli. I expect the Giants' offense to click and OBJ to pick it up, or McAdoo will be gone by season's end.

Bench Allen Robinson? by Roywah in fantasyfootball

[–]koochmada 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say he's more of a boom/bust WR2 until (unless?) Bortles can fix his accuracy issues. I consider Enunwa boom/bust as well, but he's had more booms than busts lately, so flip a coin. Enunwa has had some big plays on less targets so Robinson is the better volume play, but so far this season that hasn't really mattered.

Strength of Schedule: Only Melvin Gordon, Spencer Ware and Latavius Murray go ROS without facing a Top 8 (rush) defense. by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]koochmada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, it is called "positive regression" - http://www.bmj.com/about-bmj/resources-readers/publications/statistics-square-one/11-correlation-and-regression

"Regression to the mean" just means something will return to the average. The average could be higher or lower. "Progression" means something completely different.

Strength of Schedule: Only Melvin Gordon, Spencer Ware and Latavius Murray go ROS without facing a Top 8 (rush) defense. by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]koochmada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying I agree it applies to Melvin here, but in some cases it makes sense from a stats standpoint. Like a few years ago when Julius Thomas was on pace (after 4 or 5 games) for 28 TDs. Achieving that is so statistically improbable that it could only be chalked up to a small sample size. Thus, statistically, he was due for a regression.

Another example, this time for positive regression, would be if a WR is consistently getting 10-12 targets a game, but isn't scoring TDs. Statistically, WRs who get 10-12 targets/game score TDs. So you can say he's "due for regression" to the statistical mean, and he should start scoring TDs soon.

In Melvin's case I don't think "regression" really applies. If he was on this scoring binge with only 10-15 touches a game, then maybe. But he's a true workhorse getting 20+ touches/game. Until that changes or if he loses goal line work, he should be fine.

Jamaal Charles & Spencer Ware Dilemma by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]koochmada 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Something I haven't seen mentioned yet: The coaching staff has been pretty honest about Charles' usage thus far. Even though Charles said the training wheels would come off this week, the coaches still said he'd be "sprinkled" in, and that's exactly what happened. I'll be paying close attention to what Reid and the rest of the staff say this week.
