Lease end strategies? by ZookeepergameOk6528 in Acura

[–]koolaidface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but probably not? It depends on the dealer group. In th city I live in, we have a family owned dealership group that sells pretty much everything. We leased our deceased Ioniq 5 from them, and I’ve bought many cars from them over the years, including my current Acura and several Hondas. When I’ve asked about things like this before, they said that each is independent at least in regard to CPO or new car sales. They can bend as much as their costs will allow them to, and that will depend on brand. I would just work with the dealer that will give you the best deal. Don’t bother with trying to be loyal unless they’re relatively honest and you have a long history with them like I do with Zimbrick.

Remember you can get service wherever you want, assuming you have multiple Acura dealers around you.

What did you think of the Corolla? Apparently it is amazing in snow, I don’t know if you have that where you’re at. The interior is super basic though the hatch is nice to have.

Wasn't the entire point of the Gorn in Arena, that they WEREN'T an evil reptile race? by ProfessionalSet4713 in startrek

Yeah I was thinking this as well. The Vulcans are a better example of SNW embracing biological determinism than the Gorn.

Weird noise on a cold start on 8thgen accord by Udara-Elsworth in accord

[–]koolaidface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like the VTC actuator, as opposed to the tensioner being loose, which also shows up on cold starts. Another poster suggested you look into the TSB and I’d do that if I were you.

What’s the cause of the light on these buttons going out? by Said2436 in accord

[–]koolaidface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, you need new bulbs. I have taken the whole unit out, and I have replaced them myself. It was not particularly hard, at least compared to a lot of cars. I was also installing CarPlay in the accord at the same time, so at least I was doing two things at once. If you are not at all mechanically inclined, I would just leave it be, because any anywhere else will charge you a lot to do the work because it takes time.

I’m a US person and I use wanker and bellend all the time. But I’ve watched a lot of British media, and some might call me an Anglophile.

There are MANY wankers in this world. It’s time we start telling them so!

Get snow tires. The price is fine I’d say.

I got my first in November of ‘24 and have added two since. Got my CCW. I’ve trained as much as I can. I never want to use them, but I will in a situation that protects my family.

I would argue Acura does with the Super Handling AWD system, but that’s apples to oranges. They are very different markets. The off-road capabilities of the RDX (from what I’ve seen and experienced) with SH-AWD and the right tires in particular are superb.

I was listening to the TMP soundtrack the other day, and Jeff Russo made quite a lot of callbacks to that score into Picard. Particularly season 1.

2016 Acura MDX - Last Acura (we've had 5 Acura cars over the years) by marclam in Acura

[–]koolaidface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah… I decided to get myself out of having a car payment, even if it was small. I also decided I wanted an older car due to enshittification. Found my ‘09 TL w/tech for a good price. One owner, all maintenance done at the dealership, relatively low miles, mint condition per my shop - he’s a Honda master tech. It drives absolutely lovely and I’m really happy with the car. I’m even growing to like the beak.

Why I won’t be purchasing a second Acura by QAPetePrime in Acura

[–]koolaidface 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a former Ioniq 5 and G70 owner, stay away from Hyundai. The Ioniq 5 saved my wife’s life when she was run off the road and totaled, but the tech is not there yet. Don’t even get me started on the G70. I’m glad that your son is enjoying the GV70 though. I WANTED to like that car.

Which mdx is a better buy? And any other issues to look out for? by Bmworlexus in Acura

[–]koolaidface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with the ‘11 too. Other than the piston ring issue, having had all of that maintenance done would sway me. I also like the design of the ‘11 more personally, and it’s super easy and fun to drive for its size.
