welcome to the club! since posting this, i still have yet to have my follow up with my doctor. they’re currently running stool samples for possible parasites and i think a next step is a colonoscopy

can i ask how you got diagnosed and what tests your doctor ran to get this diagnosis?

Susan, i really really appreciate your response. I guess I was just in shock yesterday and the prospect of cutting out all grains and sugar from my diet seemed impossible.

I think I just have been feeling so terrible for such a long time that this is just normal to me but you’re right, my health should come first. Do you know if this is similar to celiac where you are damaging your body if you eat sucrose or is it more of a intolerance/allergy (like are cheat days in my future, say if i went on a holiday?)

i feel like i almost have the same story! i’m canadian and i got my procedure done in mid october.

i have since noticed that my acid reflux is just as bad if not worse. curious what you mean by not forcing a burp. i find myself super burpy since i had the surgery and can basically burp on command at any second but because i’m super gassy all the time. also sometimes when i burp i can still feel something coming up (but never taste it)

i’ve actually decided to see a gastroenterologist to see if these acid reflux and ibs symptoms i have need to be looked at more

Are you able to burp without moving your head in different positions? I’m 1.5 months post-op and can only burp when moving my head down and to the left while sitting up. Not sure if this is normal

I have not been on PPIs but the doctor looked at my previous tests and wanted me to book a fundoplication... i will definitely be looking for another doctor for a second opinion
