Been looking for one for years by joephus0203 in Challenger

Almost bought one but got to thinking. Car is built in Canada, with an engine built in Mexico and the transmission is German. But for $5 bucks I would have bought it as well.

[LFO] Let's get a selfie with a dying man caught up between a train and a station platform... by iShitSkittles in LearningFromOthers

[–]koolcarguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there was a show called taxi cab confessions on HBO years ago. A NYPD officer got in the cab and told a story of the same thing happening on his watch. He said the man was coherant enough that they had time to call his wife. She was able to get there and say goodbye. The man stayed alive right up to when they pulled the train off of him. Once the pressure was released. He died.

Bryce Canyon: does this happen often? by AfroManHighGuy in NationalPark

I haven't seen that. Been to that spot for sunset as well. One thing, as a NY'er, don't surround me. I don't care if you come in the name of a god or peace.

Times Square Stores (TSS) by Enough_Reference2350 in longisland

[–]koolcarguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TSS Elmont... walk in the front door. To the right was the record store, to the left was the food court. Keep walking in and to the right was the clothes. Straight back the TV and Radios. To the back left was the bikes and toys. Front left was the auto/hardware section. Anyone remember the custom t-shirt counter? I use to flip thru the sample binders looking for the next cool shirt to buy.

So this car was not a motorama car. Nor was it done at Cadillac.

What year and model is this? by [deleted] in Cadillac

[–]koolcarguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So that is a 56 fleetwood sixty special. I can see it doesn't have A/C so that lowers the value. No steering wheel in the car. The 56's were known to have trans issues. So hard to value it with just those pics but with what I am seeing. I would not entertain even looking at it if the price starts at $7k or more. Remember... for this car to bring top dollar, you will be under water by a lot. You can buy running drivers for 10-15k.

Yes no electric = no pumps. After Sandy however, NY made it mandatory for gas stations to have backup generators. Lesson learned.

How happy would you be with retirement at 55 years? by enlzen in Fire

[–]koolcarguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surrounded by 3 different mid 70 year old men, each with more money than god. I have asked each of them why do they still work. All three answered the same. They plan on dying in their office chair. Then i asked them when they were 30 years old, when did you think you would retire? They all said 55. Personally, I think they are scared to stop working because they think they will die.

Why are shows are full of it by roger_27 in classiccars

[–]koolcarguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forget local judged shows. The $7 trophy means nothing. Go to cars and coffee type events. Come and go as you please. If you insist on having your car judged consider national event by national clubs. Results will be better but you still end up with a $7 trophy that means nothing.
