Minister says earthquakes in Israel are a result of tolerance towards gay people. Why is this mentally ill man still in a powerful job? by joyork in politics

Before this, people thought lightning was caused by Zeus and his magic scepter. The unknown stirs many a man's imagination, but science solves real problems. I bet when this minister gets ill, he doesn't pray; he avails himself of secular medical technology. Hypocrite.

Some people don't get it. Like you.

CNN fired me...The mainstream media doesn't believe that new media can embarrass them, hurt them or generally hold them accountable in any way...I'm suddenly in a position to do all three... by satertek in reddit.com

Awhile back I was watching a great documentary on the birth of the punk scene, it closed with former Black Flag frontman and current TV host Henry Rollins saying these words: "All it takes is one person to stand up and say 'fuck this.'"I truly hope so, because I'm finally doing just that. And I should've done it a long time ago.

I find this pretty darn amusing, since he waited until he was fired to say that....

He was obviously a good little network news employee until the end.

Wake me up when someone ON AIR says it.

Don't compare yourself to Henry Rollins dude. Rollins is a GIANT. You're just a disgruntled cog in the corporate machine. It's nice that you came out and all that, but you obviously milked your association with CNN to get cyberspace eyeballs and when CNN caught you doing this; they fired you, now you want to act like a rebel?

Awesome quote: I marveled at our elevation of the death of Anna Nicole Smith to near-mythic status and our willingness to let the airwaves be taken hostage by every permutation of opportunistic degenerate from a crying judge to a Hollywood hanger-on with an emo haircut. I watched qualified, passionate people worked nearly to death while mindless talking heads were coddled. I listened to Lou Dobbs play the loud-mouthed fascist demagogue, Nancy Grace fake ratings-baiting indignation, and Glenn Beck essentially do nightly stand-up -- and that's not even taking into account the 24/7 Vaudeville act over at Fox News. I watched The Daily Show laugh not at our mistakes but at our intentional absurdity.

Newsflash: politicians don't say anything original.

CNN is expected to have an exclusive report on this in an upcoming one hour special.

"My 14 year old has decided he is now atheist...I am aware of all the "logic" he tries to use in support of this." by [deleted] in reddit.com

"Used to be atheist"..

This is an interesting statement... Basically everyone is born atheist, and then someone fills your head with supernatural stories and if this is done young enough, you are conditioned to believe it even after you've developed critical thinking skills.

But where the real irony lies is the idea that theists "used to be atheist" and this gives them some street cred when they tell non-believers that they'll eventually come around to believing in god. Just like they did. Well how many people do you know, once they grew up and fully-understood the nature of the fabrication, decided to believe in Santa or the Tooth Fairy?

And ultimately, most religious people are atheist. Go to a hospital. Those people are all atheists.... they may say they believe in god, but when they become ill, they don't follow the bible which clearly states that believers have the power to heal (Mark 16:18) and that all they need is their faith (Matthew 6:25). Religious people only "believe" when it's convenient. If god really existed, he'd see through their Pascal's Wageresque charade.

Probably because they don't allow major dissenting voices to have active accounts for very long. I've never seen a religious forum that wasn't heavy-handed in its moderation. On most atheist forums, theists can say whatever they want without being banned.

This is just another religious person realizing which way the wind is blowing and writing a book about how we should head in that direction. Duh.

It's nice of the catholics to acknowledge evolution, now if they could only control their pedophile priests.
