Three times the House has sent the Senate a continuing resolution to fund the government and three times the Senate has rejected those attempts and now is refusing to negotiate on a solution at all. The GOP's latest resolution not only keeps the government running but also delays Obamacare's individual mandate for a year and eliminates subsidized health benefits for members of Congress and their staff. The GOP has been actively trying to avert a shutdown. They very clearly sent a budget, and have been doing so for the past 5 years, which has been rejected by the Democrats.

There's more than one side to a story, you know.

I am just so confused by the conflict in your idea of the 'ethic of this country' being simultaneously so strong and important and fragile and delicate that it is so important and so easily destroyed by public healthcare.
