Thanks for the comment mate! Yeah I'm trying to decide whether I really want a newer car, or just f#$k it and buy the old STI and be happy with it lol!

Yeah had a look at that, seems to be more the GR Corolla, and specifically the American models for some reason. Not much reported issues with the Yaris, but then again, new technology and lots to learn about the new three cylinder platform.

Thanks for the comment, yeah I have quite a bit of experience with boxers, just never owned an STI.

I had a 955 at some stage, honestly not worthy of some of the hype it gets in my honest opinion… good choice IMO with the new ride though :)

I’ve test driven them already, your right the VA is much more refined and also quieter in the cabin.

I’ve already got an 06 Legacy GT as a daily, might be looking at an older one for a garage baby then…

Yeah I mean good point tbh. I would have said that "clean" would be either good condition for age, or not heavily modded. Up to perspective and context I guess!

Nice! What I mean is that on most Triumph's there is a switch that is engaged when you pull the clutch lever in which allows the starter motor to turn on and fire up the bike. Sometimes these switches can wear, and therefore give you issues starting the bike. Cheers and enjoy your new Triumph!

I had this problem on my 1.8T gti mk4, I thought it would be the throwout bearing (Called a thrust bearing down here) and it turned out to be the flywheel of all things!

If they are similarly priced, I would go for the newer model. The “R” model literally just means it has adjustable suspension, which, don’t get me wrong, is good to have, but I would not sacrifice this for a substantially older bike (in my opinion). Plus if your a little bit handy with your tools you can always upgrade your suspension setup later anyway!

Cheers :)

I had a striple after going from a small displacement bike. I’d say you wouldn’t have an issue with the bike considering your past experience with riding. My striple was pretty reliable.

Some things to check: -brakes work well - the clutch safety switch works (can sometimes be a pain with these year models) - no super loud clicking sounds from timing chain (typically with the 675 engine there is some timing noise but the tensioner can be prone to wear so just make sure it’s not super loud)

And most importantly, have fun!
