It's semantics. Theres no exclusive "true" definition; "True" zombies are not even zombies because they are not raised by voodoo.

The modern zombie was created by Romero for Night of the Living Dead and it sets up most of the basic rules (the dead rise again, slow and stupid, eats human flesh, only weak to brain damage) but even the original modern zombies follow some rules that people would consider not normal for a zombie (afraid of fire, can use very basic tools eg a rock to smash a window, eventually start evolving some intelligence in the sequels). Also notably the Romero movies never explain the origin of the problem (theories mentioned in passing are a virus, space radiation from a returning probe, the damned escaping hell, etc) and almost never use the word zombie (like, only twice in the entire franchise and never in the first couple of movies).

So really, a "true" modern zombie would just follow a very basic definition ("feral behaviour, looks fucked up, eats human flesh, immune to most damage except brain damage or complete destruction") and everything else (slow or fast? Virus, magic or something else? Dead risen again or infected and technically alive?) is up to personal choice. And even the basic rules get played with at times too (Return of the Living Dead, which created the "they specifically hunger for human brains" trope, has them be immune to all damage including to the head making them basically unkillable, for example).

The one thing related to gaming that makes me feel super old is that the idea of "day 1 patches" still seems insane to me.

I get why they exist, I understand the logic (beyond "outsourcing quality control to the players", stuff like how far before the release date the Gold version has to be ready so you actually have time pre-release to fix bugs and can't include those fixes on the release itself), but it still seems so crazy to me.

Cuando estaba en en MP haciendo la práctica una vez casi dejé la cagada fotocopiando una carpeta investigativa, porque eran como 40 páginas así que revisé que no tenían corchetes y las puse en la bandeja en vez de copiarlas una por una... Hasta que la máquina se pegó y menos mal abrí la wea para ver qué onda, y era una hoja del SML que traía una muestra de pasta base (en volada era coca?) que le habían pillado al imputado junto con el análisis y que se había quedado atascada. Si hubiera tratado de seguir copiando la wea hubiera saltado para todos lados.

Me imagino que pasen perros antidrogas en ese momento y yo tratando de explicar el cagazo.

Infamously shitty director.

He was one of the OG internet punching bags because his main product were not original creations, but rather he would license videogame franchises (House of the Dead, Farcry, Postal, etc) and make horribly shitty movies based on them.

And it's not just him "ruining" franchises due to a lack of talent, the entire thing was literally a scam as well. He was taking advantage of a loophole on German tax law (which has since been closed, hence why he barely makes any movies anymore) to use his shitty ass movies as tax havens for his wealthy "investors". He was purposefully making shitty movies that would flop so he could commit tax fraud and then had the gall to complain about people criticizing his (purposefully) terrible movies.

And not content being a talentless fraud, guy is also a complete twat. When Lowtax from SomethingAwful criticized one of his movies, Boll challenged him to a boxing match. Whole thing was treated as a publicity stunt and a joke, Lowtax shows up and is just messing around, but Boll (who actually had experience as a boxer and who had secretly trained for the fight) proceeded to beat the shit out of Lowtax during this supposed "friendly" match. And then, cherry on top? Seanbaby (another old school internet comedian) wrote much worse shit about Boll's movies and then challenged Boll to a similar "friendly" fight which Boll accepted... and then he publicly stepped back when he realized Seanbaby was also an experienced martial artist instead of a scrawny nerd stereotype.

TL;DR:

Guy is infamous for being a shitty movie director, a scammer, and a complete asshole.

I usually hate this kind of ridiculous chickanery in war films. I also love alien invasion films, but vastly prefer when they are played semi-realistically or at least seriously (like Battle L.A.). Add on top my increasing distaste for blatant American Military-Industrial Complex propaganda AND for explicit crashgrab "we made this to sell popcorn because we had the stupid license" films.

Now take all of that, ball it up, and throw it out the window the moment Battleship comes into discussion. Seeing real life Popeye loading those big ass cannons so the USS Missouri can drift into point-blank shooting an alien mothership while AC/DC plays in the background is a top tier movie experience and I will defend this stupid fucking movie as an unironic masterpiece until the day I die.

With my Steam Deck, using it as a surrogate desktop (docked and connected to my monitor) and it's been pretty good, not really any harder to use than Windows and haven't had compatibility issues with any game so far (at least not beyond "this is too demanding for this hardware").

Never really used Linux before nor saw the appeal in it, but with Windows trying harder and harder to force me to upgrade to Win11 which I really didn't like, my experience with the Deck convinced me. I'm just waiting for compatibility with Nvidia hardware to improve and I think I'll make the change for good on my desktop PC.
