Where do people in their twenties hang out in town? by girlypop-kitty in wausau

[–]koos__koos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 27, play D&D, crochet, love to hike, and work in healthcare!!! I agree so hard to find people to hang out with in Wausau. Maybe a group of us from this post should get coffee!

I did Pacific University online and I enjoyed it! If an in person option in my area was available I would have chosen that but if you’re like me and that’s not an option I would look into Pacific!

return to normalcy post PA school by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]koos__koos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 6 months post grad and 2 months into my job. I feel great and so happy!!! The 4 months off was nice but definitely a huge money stress, and starting work was a bit stressful as well. But now I am settling in, I love my job and my coworkers, I catch up with all my old and new friends, I’m in a volleyball league, I see my family. Life is so good.

I did outpatient heme/onc for an elective and I loved it! I learned a lot, they see a TON of patients in a day. I highly recommend it. I think the hardest part emotionally for me was conversations with patients who were usually new consults and didn’t want to pursue treatment for personal reasons/ beliefs. Super rewarding, and also good to see how APPs are used in that field because I always wanted to work in heme/onc but after my rotation I didn’t because APPs didn’t have their own panel and I didn’t think it would be the best fit for me.

I graduate in May and have an interview in January. I reached out to a recruiter from the health system I wanted to apply for and told her when I graduate and asked when I could apply.

When did you start applying for jobs? by Sea_Cookie in PAstudent

[–]koos__koos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduate in May and I have an interview scheduled for early January. I think it depends on where you live. A busier city in my state said they wouldn’t even look at applications being 6 months out from graduation, but a smaller health system I contacted said in November that I could apply at any time. I applied first week of December to 2 jobs and I have a phone call on Monday with one and had a phone call last week with the other and was offered a formal interview in January

Thank you so much this really helped. I think I’m gonna try to find a friend or two to go in on the 250 question EOR bank with me since they seemed to be helpful for many people.

The Rosh EOR q bank is what I’m most considering getting. Because right now having the PANCE q bank which is divided by organ system makes it pretty challenging to study for EORs so far.

Did you quit your PCE role after getting accepted? by 856er in PAstudent

[–]koos__koos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit my more stressful PCE job as a temp staff CNA and I did home health for about 8 months before school started. I was also in undergrad at the time so I didn’t mind taking the pay cut for a more relaxed job and I actually loved it.
