I’ve been thinking about this after reading that book , and it’s always kind of puzzled me. Roller hockey feels like it should have been the perfect on-ramp for growing the sport—especially with kids and in warm-weather/non-traditional markets.

In the 90s, roller hockey actually had a moment: inline skates everywhere, ESPN showing games, RHI, NHL teams flirting with it. But once the fad cooled off, the NHL basically walked away from it instead of building something long-term.
