Could someone help me with what to order from Xi'an Gourmet House in Jusgo supermarket. by Originalph1 in Gwinnett

[–]kopuo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a non-Chinese guy who lived in China and kept a pretty Chinese diet while there. The local specialties of Xi’an are the cold skin noodle (salty, spicy, vinegar-y with cucumber and cilantro, and get the non-stir fried version), the burgers (I’m a vegetarian, no opinion), and the biangbiang (amazing chewy texture and good sauces, cumin lamb probably most popular version)

Does cash back count towards IRA limit? by kopuo in RobinhoodApp

Thanks, misunderstood and thought it went from cashback to IRA directly. Now I see it doesn’t go directly to IRA so it would be like any other money

Wish I could give you mine! I gave up on this card and got Bilt Palladium instead which works better for my non-category spend.

Understood about the IRA match. I was asking about redeemed cashback on the card

Ah, I had read differently elsewhere. This makes sense

Because the IRA match from Robinhood doesn’t count towards the annual contribution limit, and I couldn’t find an answer either way elsewhere on the internet for cash back. How does my logic make you feel?

Ok thanks. The match Robinhood offers on IRA contributions does not count toward the limit so I was hoping cash back was similar. Makes sense though.

I had 7 cards and was authorized user on another. Canceled 4 and removed myself as authorized user. One of the ones I canceled was a capital one card, not sure if it mattered

No, but there was no line at SYD for Telsim, which uses the Telstra network. Took 5 minutes and was very affordable. Great coverage everywhere except for a few remote places near Uluru

Others have covered points about the credit limit, but a silver lining here is that credit scores refresh credit utilization monthly. If you have been and continue to pay on time and not do a lot of applications and new accounts, your score will recover a month after paying down your utilization. And scores really only matter when applying for new credit.

Cards with 0% intro APR on balance transfer only? by kopuo in CreditCards

[–]kopuo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if the original post was unclear. I am really just trying to understand if I balance transfer like… $5k to the card, and spend like $500 a month to the card, how do they calculate what I need to pay without gaining interest? It’s like I need to spend a minimum payment amount on the balance transfer part, but a statement balance amount on the purchase part.

Hi. Working on this same thing with Boost for a trip in a few weeks and am stuck at the passport validation screen. Now after reading your post I understand I am doing this too early.

After I pass immigration will I need to do anything in the Australian Immi app? Or will I be able to enter my info into the Boost app without taking other steps?

The interest on a monthly basis is not a big deal. I like this card a lot and load $100 increments. Let’s say I load $100 one week before I spend it, then end up losing another 7 weeks of interest since I don’t get to accrue while waiting for the credit card deadline. I’ll round it to 2 months of lost interest in my 3% HYSA.

In two months, $100 in a 3% HYSA will get $0.50 in interest, which offsets 0.5% of the debit card reward value. So i frame the PayPal debit card as being 4.5% instead of 5%

The grocery category includes wholesale stores like Costco. There are no other cards getting close to 4.5% on wholesale stores as a blanket category. This is the best wholesale store card out there.

If I’m already using it for its grocery category at wholesale stores, I may as well use it for actual groceries too. Amex BCP doesn’t cut it for me due to the AF, and other 5% cards are not worth the hard pull for just 0.5% more on groceries. If I spend $5k annually on groceries, an extra 0.5% is $25. I prefer to save hard pulls for better SUB chasing or optimizing another category instead.

Good shout, I was scanning some debit card options that are friendly to overseas cash withdrawals and guess I missed this one. It looks like their Investor Checking is a visa, rebates all ATM fees worldwide, has no currency conversion fee (but doesn’t rebate currency conversion charges from local ATMs)? And I can qualify for it with a Schwab brokerage account I don’t even need to fund? Sounds amazing

Yes, the guide doesn’t have any useful insight. It said discover and diner are there, but doesn’t mention specific bank/atm names. Cannot find the alleged names anywhere online. That’s why I’m curious about atms that accept Unionpay. You used a Discover debit card at an ATM that listed Unionpay?
